cool gun.. working on the butt stock now.. give me a couple of minutes :)

 

@Achilles : Thks I had those as my first 2 choices too.

"If you're going to do angles, stick with angles throughout" I don't get what your talking abt... angles for

screenshots or angles for the butt stocks?

Yeah I love that stock design, it's so universally adaptable that it's tough to make it look out of place.

 

As for what Achilles was saying, he was just referring to the consistency of your design. Most of your base rifle is very angular in both mesh and texture, he's just recommending that you keep the stock consistent with everything else. Having said that, I have to agree with 6&8 being the best from what you've posted.

uh.. aren't the screenshots considered renders?

 

They can, but GMax sucks at showing what your model really looks like. For example, my Desert Eagle model. 3ds Max showed it's texture as pretty crappy, and all jumbled. But when I rendered, it showed how much detail there really is.

 

In the end, GMax just isn't a good tool if you want to see what your model really looks like.

No.

 

Renders have been processed by a renderer (such as the one included with 3dsMax but not gmax :()

 

There's quite a bit of texture stretching in the screenshots which may or may not show up in the game. Quick way to know would be to render the scene.

wooo.. ^_^ like the gun in your signature.. you using that concept in any upcoming mods?

heheh.. feel like making one just like that to fit in to my next pack for Ion rifles :)

 

I do have plans for it, but I'm not sure when it'll be in a releasable state. Feel free to borrow the design if you want.

Wow... I leave for a day or two and this happens! Very nice looking guns, though I think I prefer the style of stock 9 -I've always been a sucker for those- all of them are good...

 

I also like the looks of the new blaster rifles, especially the way the plasma projector had that new stock worked in... gave it a nice industrial feel...
