True_Avery
Infinity Ward, developers of the Call of Duty and Modern Warfare games, posted this video on their YouTube channel as a viral advertisement for their upcoming game, Modern Warfare 2. The video itself is aimed at "Grenade Spammers"; FPS players who, in multiplayer, "spam" grenades. Amusing jab at their player community with some profanity added. It was recently pulled from YouTube by Infinity Ward for getting heat for the content at the end of the video. (Warning: Profanity and Animated Violence) <snipped video> Sorry this video is not appropriate for a PG-13 Forum -- j7 Title of the Video is "Fight. Against. Grenade. Spam." I'll let you figure out the rest. NOTE: Just brought it up for discussion, but if its debate material it can be moved to Kavars.
jrrtoken
They've already received enough controversy for the Mumbai incident... now it's as if they're intentionally stirring up the pot. Regardless, they're doing it in a quite unfunny way... >_>
Jeff
I think the press blew this way out of proportion, and don't really see anything wrong with it if people just take it as what it's supposed to be, poking fun at a certain group of gamers while marketing the game. I can see the other side of the argument, that it's tasteless or whatever but I don't think Activision/IW really cares since either way it's generating more buzz for the game. ForeverNight
I like it! Especially considering that the FPS I mainly play there's tons of Grenade Spammers, especially Smoke Nades.... I'm not wanting 'classy' adverts for an FPS like Modern Warfare 2, I'm wanting stuff that shows what the game is like, I can see why it was pulled from Youtube though.... Ah well, I like the advert. Mav
I appreciate that it is "politically incorrect" I think it's funny, sure I guess it could offend someone if they take it personally. I'm more pissed about the lack of dedicated servers and that PC multi-player is limited to 9 v. 9 now, the PC version is nothing more than a port of the console versions and that's why they lost my purchase, though I am sure they don't care about lil' ole me. Sabretooth
Heh, it was funny and the media laughed too, before they took advantage of it as they are expected to.
JediAthos
Have to say I thought it was humorous...particularly since having played quite a bit of Modern Warfare multiplayer I know exactly what they're talking about At the same time I can see how some would not appreciate it, and it might have gone over better with some bleeping or some such in place of the potentially offensive words.
