The “Hoverwing” took Mr Heeman 11 years to build, tens of thousands of dollars and lots of Kiwi ingenuity as the mechanic taught himself how to become a boat/plane builder - and more importantly, how to fly.

The Hoverwing can fly up to speeds of 100km/hr, hovering three metres above the water (or ground).

The working parts behind the flying boat are true Kiwi ingenuity. With the engine made from six different cars.

Flippin' awesome.

When are they going to make flying cars already?

Don't mean to be a downer but it's just a boat with wings... now if it could go into Battroid mode then I'd be impressed.

True, it isn't an anti gravity device like the Back To The Future hoverboard (as I don't recall there have been any major repeals to the laws of physics lately), but I can still see a market for it and it does more or less work for flying as well as water boating.

Boaters and water sport peeps would get a kick out of something like this, wouldn't they? Maybe not an economic purchase, but it's there.

Yeah, and I wouldn't mind being there to see the first jackass drunkenly fly it into a tree just after achieving liftoff. C'mon, you know it'll happen if this contraption ever gets to mass marketing stage.....

And get fined by both the DNR and the FAA. The gov't has to wet its beak, after all.

Don't say that, because then you'll end up with something like this:
