Varmint's K2 Weapons Overhaul

Recommended Posts

My plan is to replace all the pistols as I play through the game again. I'll release an Ion Pack, a Sonic Pack, and a Blaster Pack. At least some will have UTIs for use with Beancounter's Hardcore Mod, since the base weapons are not quite powerful enough.

In order to get this done in a timely manner, I'll stick to a few basic themes. I will most likely reuse one or two main blaster bodies in each main category and change the emitters for the various models.

1. Ion Weapons.

Released on TUCE

2. Sonic Weapons

3. Hold Out Blasters

Looks great, much more inventive than the original! :)

I just wanted to ask, have you looked at some other Star Wars inspirations? I know this is stretching it canonically, but the Geonosian sonic rifles have a similar "teeth" on the muzzle. The muzzle itself is quite large, almost like a mortar launcher, and emits a green-tinted "wave".

I like the idea! I'll play around with it and see what happens.

these are certainly more inventive than the vanilla models. Good work. There seems to be a pattern going here, like they have interchangeable barrels that clip onto common hand grips and power packs. Kinda like rechargeable battery powered tools :xp:

I'll look forward to more updates :D

Thanks!!!

It's a little known fact that all sonic pistols are designed by a secret faction acoustic engineers from the Ryobi system. Known only as the Brotherhood of DeWalt, they have secreted themselves amongst the galaxy's Hive Depot stores, and communicate solely through complex codes buried in subchannels of the stores' PA systems.

Not bad e-varmint. They look a tad oversized to me, but nice work otherwise.

Yea, I need to shrink them a little. I'll try 10% and see what it looks like in-game.

@ PastramiX: How's this for a semi-organic look?

The black/white texture needs work, but its a start. I also need to smooth some edges.

Much better:

A few tweaks to the mapping, and this model (No. 3) will be ready to go:

I'm going to redesign the Ion Blaster Model 2, but I may still get the Ion Pack out by late Friday.

Soooooooooo

Any suggestions for the next Pack? Hold-out Blasters? Disruptors? Regular Blasters?

Modifier parts that add physical damage? Might do nicely on a disruptor. ;)

Maybe an Elite Assassin's equivalent to Elite Watchman blaster with a few different but comparable stats. (Gives an excuse to put more elite sith assassins in the game?)

Mines that make cold+sticky+flash--could even have a different name like droid factory cooling package. You know, something meant entirely for another purpose. Sounds more innovative and MacGyver-like that way. In the description it could be that it's an expendable chemical cooling unit for industrial equipment as a practical cost-effective means of cooling since existing methods are either too impractical or too cost prohibitive to implement. Ideally I would probably place them in the chamber opposite of the droid charging station on Telos that you blow up. Maybe that honest duros merchant could sell them too. (It'd give at least ONE purpose to come back to Telos during gameplay!)

Just some suggestions and ideas.

I think the Hold Out blasters would be a good choice. There are only 4 basic models, they are small (therefore easy to redesign), and I can easily make a few more that have different "elite" properties. It is always good to have a Knockdown Blaster and a Paralysis Blaster in one's inventory.

Incidentally, the sound the GoTo droids make when you knock them down is *hilarious*!

I think I'll also make all of the Ion pistols fully-upgradeable.

I don't know if I can make mines without getting into the .2da files, which I try to avoid. It is a very good idea, and you may want to post it in the Modding Request forum. Someone with TSL-Patcher experience might be willing to take it on. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing some new mines in the game!

A HoB design concept:

Do you think you could do Cade Skywalker's blaster? I dunno what it would replace, maybe a heavy blaster or something.

I don't know if I can exactly replicate that, but I could approximate it. I have to finish Sith Holocron's District 9 rifle before I take on anything that complex. Are you envisioning this as a pistol or a rifle?

Here's something interesting:

I can definitely find some HoB inspiration from that!

How about this?

:DIt took me a while to notice that there was a weapon...

*gawks at picture again*

I could probably make something like that.

Another experiment:

I think I'll use this lightsaber-beam effect in the Hold Out Blasters.
