Tysyacha
I'm trying to apply for a position at BioWare as a writer. However, there is a part of the application process that I don't know how to do, and would like your assistance if you know the steps to complete it properly. Here's the link to the site that I'm on. Click on "BioWare Dialogue Exercise" and download the document: http://www.bioware.com/bioware_info/jobs/positions/austin_writer.html If you actually know how to do this kind of thing and to make the hyperlinks to each section of the document work, then great! I much appreciate your help! Most sincerely, Tysyacha
Ztalker
I can't help you with applying (as I'm no native English speaker/writer) but I wish you all the luck It would be awesome to see someone work at Bioware that started here on the forums... mimartin
Are you Darth Insidious straight woman? Because he is going to have a field day with this. Must be able to recognize potential problems in plots, characters, and areas, while propose/brainstorm appropriate solutions with the lead writer/lead designer [/Quote] I looked at the download, but not much of a clue on how to do it. It actually looks like they are attempting to test a potential writer ability to do the above while writing the dialog in a fairly controlled environment. What I mean is someone else decided what the quest is an important parts of the dialog and the test wants you to fill in the drivel in between without breaking the quest. Wish I could be of more help, but I'm a numbers person. When you apply with a accounting firm, PM me.
TriggerGod
Sorry, if I could help you I would. Writing is not my thing. But if there are indeed hyperlinks from the .pdf or whatever file type it is, did you click it just once or did you try double clicking? English is not my major. Talk to me about any jobs involving design (3d, 2d, 1d...) and I'd be happy to help, like how mim would help you with accounting

Sabretooth
If you actually know how to do this kind of thing and to make the hyperlinks to each section of the document work, then great! I don't have the new Microsoft Office on me right now, or I'd have told you. I'll give you the instructions on how to do it in OpenOffice, try to find your way around Microsoft Office. 1. Ensure each opposite dialogue (red-coloured one) is formatted as a header. 2. Put your responses in plain text below it. 3. Make sure you've written down the continuation of the response, i.e. the next red header. 4. Select the text, click on hyperlink. This is where things are going to diverge. 5. For OpenOffice, go to Document, then click the little target icon in the Target section and click on the little plus beside Headings. Here you can select which Heading you want to link to. Click on Apply in that window, Apply in the main window and Close the Hyperlink window. 6. Enjoy the clicky-clickyness of the new hyperlink. Basically: there's a hyperlink button. Use it, and remember that within a document, you can only link to a Header text.
Darth333
Another tip: If you've never looked at how a Bioware dlg file works, get Kotor Tool or Tk102's dlg editor to examine some Kotor dlg files...then you'll understand how the ME and DA files work from a general PoV (and how "resource effective" but oh how "lazy" the devs were in ME1 as to dialog...). Efficiency and $$$ will always be part of life (not always under the same proportions though)...unless you find an unending source of both money and time...
