[K1] Recruit Lokana

Hi there guys,

Finally I convinced myself to create a WIP-Thread at the Labs...

This is a recruitment mod to have another jedi in the party. And now I know some might say 'There are many

recruitment mods out there' but I wanted to do it and so I'll finish it.

1.) I started this mod a while ago (2-3 years) but I never got it finished and when my computer crashed and the

files got deleted I couldn't motivate myself to redo it. Now I found some time and motivation (again) to redo it...

2.) For now, I only have a german version - since I'm living in Germany that's what I'm going to release first. But

don't panic (:D) because I'm planning on doing a translation to english...

Now to the mod:

Lokana is a light-side jedi who joins your party very early in the game (I always wanted to have a jedi as soon as

the game started). Though you can't see her as a second Bastila because her opinion sometimes differs from Bastila's

and she is clearly less focused on doing everything 'by the book'. Basically I want her to be a mix between the

perfect jedi (Bastila/Juhani) and the funny guy (Jolee/HK-47) but faithful to the lightside. But I don't want to

reveal what kind of background I figured out for her ;).

For now she doesn't have any personal dialogue (aka side-quest) but I'm working on it. But she does come with her

personal opinion :p so I have (and I'm still doing it) gone through every dialog from the game and inserted

appropriate lines for her to say. And now the most difficult part: I want to do it with a complete Voice-Over.

Ingame she replaces Canderous since I wanted to keep all the jedis. So it came down to: Carth (primary character),

Zaalbar (primary - Kashyyyk) Mission (primary - Taris), HK-47 (Do I have to say something?) or Canderous (primary -

Taris). So I chose Canderous because I didn't use him at all after Taris and I didn't like him either. This gets a

bit tricky, when he's supposed to accompany you to the Ebon Hawk but I changed it, so that after you get to the Ebon

Hawk you have the opportunity to play with either Canderous or Lokana.

Lokana joins you here:

Then you can choose whether to recruit her or to leave her be (keeping in mind that the dialogs have changed).

Stats:

Lokana is a Jedi-Knight and starts with Level 3 (to keep it real with the game).

Strength: 12

Dexterity: 12

Constitution: 14

Intelligence: 14

Wisdom: 14

Charisma: 12

(I used the same amount of points that you are given upon character creation)

Skills:

Stealth: 5

Awareness: 5

Repair: 3

Security: 5

Treat injury: 5

Force Powers:

Speed

Heal (stage 1)

Push

Progress

Personal dialog - 5% (recruitment and basics finished)

Story dialog - 99% (10/10 planets finished)

character data - 90%

(character finished, portrait, appearance, unsure about the look)

Voice-Overs - 0%

(If someone would like to help me making her appearance a little bit more 'unique' so I won't have to use this stupid default female head (because I suck at skinning/modeling), that'll be pretty awesome :))

I attached some Screenshots if you want to have a look.

Special Thanks to every person who's helped me by answering questions or posting tuts in this forum.

Thanks for reading all this :)

So I'm working on the personal story now, but it bothers me that she does look like a default Jedi like 'off-the-shelf'. So I hoped one of the more-modelling-experienced modders could help me out with a unique appearance. Either Human or Twi'lek, depends on what's easier to do... That'll be very kind... :)

I wish that I had that skill-set; I would be glad to help if I could!

Nice to see you following through on an old project :) It is a reminder to me... That I have some work to do!

I like that you have replaced Canderous, just because he usually isn't replaced so to me there is some novelty in that. I wonder if Lokana will replace Canderous as an option on the Leviathan?

As for the skinning and modeling, perhaps asking a forumite directly? Many of our best are busy, of course, but you have been a helpful guy around here, so maybe you might have earned a favor?

Well, I just couldn't think of it not being finished... Seeing as I spend hours looking through conversations... And I would love to see what you've got in your backpocket ;)

Well, I don't want to spoil anything for you but it will take a while until I have an english version of it... ;)

Well I figured I can address more people by just posting it here than write PMs to the guys from whom I know they can do it.

But thanks for the kind words ;)

Ok, I just cannot adapt to the unappealing facial expressions of the Twi'lek heads that are already ingame. Now, I already tried (just to test it) creating a new appearance with the Twi'lek appearance and Mission's Head - which is much more detailed and appealing to me - but I failed, ending up with Kotor crashing upon spawning the NPC. Can somebody help me either figuring out how to fix that or creating a head.

Hmm, well I ran into a new thing bothering me... Maybe some of you can help me with that.

As you know Lokana is recruited on Taris instead of Canderous. The Problem is that Canderous is not planned to be on the party in the city of Taris. So he dosn't have a spot in the apartment. That means Lokana won't spawn if you visit the apartment. I didn't realize that, because I didn't go there at all...

Maybe someone knows how to take care of that...

You can add a spawn point to the .git by copying somebody else's spawn point and changing the tag and coordinates, and then hack the on-load script for the apartment and spawn Lokana.

If this is above your head, others should be able to help, or I can in about a month...

From what I remember the spawning of NPC's in the hideout and hawk is done in the onenter script, with the waypoints being in the git file. I also don't think the source for those scripts is included in the game, and dencs has trouble with them.

I had the same problem with the hawk's onenter so if you can find a way to decompile them please post it, I would be eternally grateful :)

Ok, got it working.

I simply created a new Waypoint-Struct with new coordinates and a new labeled Tag 'pebn_canderous'. I think it works kinda like the script for the Ebon Hawk 'k_ebn_pophawk' or something like that. The Waypoint is exactly named like the one on the hawk. Now she spawns at the location I chose.

Thanks for the help.
