Totenkopf
Amittedly unrelated, but didn't feel like posting two threads. (This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.) any thoughts? cool, sucks? meh..? The Hobbit http://www.thewrap.com/deal-central/column-post/hobbit-three-parts-peter-jackson-warner-bros-are-talking-about-it-49161 Anyone heard about this before now? 3 parts really does seem like a stretch, even if the director is good/great/whatever. Dread Advocate
I heard about The Hobbit being three parts a few months ago. I think it is a bit of a stretch. Before that, it was my understanding that part one would be everything up until the Battle of Five Armies, and then part two would be the journey home and take a lot of creative license, hence the subtitles being "An Unexpected Journey" and "There and Back Again." I'm confused as to how it's gonna work out now. Will part one cover everything until Mirkwood, cut off before that, or what? The most recent trailer implies that part one will take them as far as Erebor, but there was nothing about the Battle of Five Armies. I'm so confused. Even though I think it's pushing it, I have enough faith in Peter Jackson to pull it off right.
DarthParametric
Hrm, the TIE fighter thing is interesting. I'm not sure it's really lore friendly, what with TIE bombers and Y-Wings dog fighting with X-Wings and TIE Interceptors, and a frigate (medical or otherwise) being taken down explosively in a single salvo (shields?), but I guess it's more about anime style than adhering rigidly to canon. I'm not really keen on the "under the helmet" stuff with the pilots, but pretty cool aside from that.
Lynk Former
I see A LOT of references to Macross in that TIE Fighter animation... I like
Red Hessian
The TIE fighter animation is just pure awesome. Amittedly unrelated, but didn't feel like posting two threads. Here's the Hobbit thread: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=209084 I've already posted the 3 part news a while ago.

90SK
I love that tie fighter anime, I'd totally watch more of that and regularly too if there was a lot. I'm not really interested in The Hobbit, maybe I'll watch it when it comes out, but I don't think there will be three parts, that just seems excessive. purifier
TIE fighter animation...two thumbs up! Loved the music from K1. Or was it K2? Either way, I give it all 9/10. The Hobbit, well hope it's as good as LOTR was.
Lynk Former
It's heavily 80s anime movie animation inspired, very well done.
Q
Yeah, that looked like it came from an era when anime wasn't crap. I'm in the "WTF, three movies" crowd as well. :\
Lynk Former
Yeah, that looked like it came from an era when anime wasn't crap. I too am very dissatisfied with current animu.
Alexrd
I'm not that much of a fan of anime/manga. I mean, I've watched Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Knights of the Zodiac as a kid, but it was never a medium that stuck with my liking. I don't think Star Wars lends itself that well to it neither* but I can appreciate the effort and he did a great job with it. * Show spoiler (hidden content - requires Javascript to show) As for The Hobbit, that's old news and I don't know where they will get enough material for three movies. Besides, didn't they finish shooting both movies already?
