" If anyone wants more info I'll post the email.
RappScallion
Yeah, please post it. Especially if it explains why it took so long and whether the graphics is really as bad as the screenshots show. (I wonder why they abandoned the 2D version - it looked really good...)

Norimaki
I fear that they will have real problems with the game's sales. The graphics may have looked appropriate to the average gamer back when the game was originally meant to be published, but nowadays, most people will say it looks ridiculous. And since I'm not really part of that group but looking forward to the witty dialogue and clever puzzes Simon 3d's predecessors had, this makes me very, very sad. Adventuresoft sure can count on my money though.
The Adventurer
can anyone derect me to a site with screen shots and info on the game. Bad graphics or no I need my Adventure game fix. I just bought Zork Grand Inquistor off E-bay for 16 bucks and then beat it with out walk throughs in 4 days. This pissed me off SOOOOO much but it was great any way (Dirk Benidict Rocks!) Currently I'm trying to get the two Discworld games and if Simon looks good I'll get all 3.

Dalixam
That DOES look good! I would definatly have bought that game. I don't plan on buying Simon 3D until I read some good reviews. (The previews haven't been too good.)
Gabez
Simon 3Ds already been reviewed, though, by loads of magazines and web-sites. Then it went back into the shadows for some unknown reason, only to emerge several million years later. Suspicious!? And the graphics looked like someone had pucked up all over the screen. NOT nice

Hello Simon 3D fans, News Mole here. I've come out of retirement especially to give you the news you've all been waiting for - Simon The Sorcerer 3D will finally be released on April 19th. After many months of false starts and postponements, we have struck a deal with Crucial Entertainment and Vivendi which will see Simon 3D hitting the shelves in less than a fortnight. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for being so patient over the years and putting up with all the misinformation and let downs, but it really was out of our hands and for legal reasons we were often not able to explain the current situation to our loyal fans. However, all that is over now - the disks have been duplicated and the boxes have been printed. Hopefully you'll all be clammering to get hold of a copy and you will shortly be able to do so via our very own Adventure Soft online store, which is the best way to keep small independant publishers such as ourselves in business. Our online store is currently being upgraded to cope with the demand and within the next few days I will be emailing you again with a link that will enable you to pre-order a copy of Simon 3D direct from us. So stay tuned! Thanks again for all your support and patience, another message coming soon! News Mole outta here 2. Hi Simon 3D fans, News Mole back again... Please forgive the slightly temporary looking nature of the store, we hoped to have the new store ready in time but demand is just too high! Ender
Is this a good time to mention that ScummVM (http://scummvm.sourceforge.net/) will include beta Simon1 and Simon2 support in the next release (and already do in CVS)? Yes! Last months news was you could play DOTT on your Dreamcast/iPaq/Linux box/Windows/Mac.... Next months is playing Simon on your DC/iPaq/Linux/Windows/Mac! (yes, yes, I know.. this is ScummVM, not SimonVM. don't ask me how it happened, I don't know. BTW, does anyone have any WORKING contact details for someone at Adventure Soft? We've tried emailing them for months asking if it's ok with them for us to do this, but no replies. At least we've had vauge mutterings from certain LEC employees that we won't be sued for the ScummVM part any time soon.

Actually, assuming your PS1 is modchipped, there is one But it's not for public release yet, as it's uses Sonys SDK so isn't legally releasable under the GPL. One day I'll get around to fixing it so it doesn't reply on PSYQ..

elTee
My copy arrived on monday morning, so I only got to play it in the evening. It needs over 400Mb of free space to play, which I aint got on my PC, so I need to install it on my dads. I'll let you all know what its like tonight. The graphics aren't exciting, but I always choose the gameplay and story over the graphics anyway. Graphics are a bonus.
RappScallion
At first I must admit that I had been prejudiced against this game. The screenshots were revolting and the time between 'gone gold' and 'released' was suspiciously long - as if the original publisher gave it up after seeing it in action. Besides the developers abandoned some perfectly good 2D environments in favour of ugly 3D low-poly geometry. Now I have played the game for about 2 hours. It's not a long time and I hope somebody else has enough patience/free time to finish it and convince me it's worth playing. Though I very much doubt it. The graphics is... scary. It consists of low-polygon objects textured with bitmaps of varied quality. The static objects tend to have better textures but they look flat and uninteresting. The characters and some of the interactive objects have exceptionally ugly low resolution animated textures which makes them unintentionally grotesque. The controls work just like in Grim Fandango/EMI. Simon turns his head towards interactive elements of environment. The camera is either static or moves as Simon walks, depending on the location. Unfortunately, it often happens that the change of camera angle is so inconvenient that not only can't you say where you are but you also don't know in which direction you were going. The music is OK but I haven't heard anything catchy so far. Characters' voices seem fairly good, too. Nice British accent. I can't really say much about the story but the dialogues and Simon's comments are funny so I guess it might be absorbing. But then if you want a good story, you can always read a book. At least you can imagine some nice surroundings for the plot ;-) And I don't mean the graphics is out of date. It's just *UGLY*. Oh, and there's a big robot at the very beginning of the game and at some point I lost respect for robots in adventure games. I just can't remember when it happened... ;-) Too bad Adventuresoft ruined the series. More adventures like this and people will start associating the genre with them. Sorry for any language errors. elTee
Yeah, I kinda agree. Graphics are poor to say the least - but, that said, you get used to them as soon as you would if you re-played tomb raider 1. The story and puzzles are your standard adventure fare, and, as RappScallion said, the control method is a rip of the Grim Fandango style "look-see-do". What keeps me playing, and what makes me give this game a thumbs up, is that its really funny. I laughed out loud from playing the first few puzzles after the intro - can't be too bad. One problem - the character seems to kind of fade in and out every 10 seconds, he goes invisible and then back to normal. I think its so you can see the objects he is obsxuring, or maybe I need to go into setup. Verdict: Good game, not LEC standard by a long way, not as good as Simon 1 / 2, not worth the £25 I payed for it. HOWEVER, I say: "Buy it when it drops down to a fiver (a tenner at a push) and you won't be too disappointed."
