The Adventurer Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Because I have to much time on my hands I have created this handy timeline of what I call the "Lucasverse". It is my belive that MOST Lucasfilm/arts titles all take place in one big universe. Begining of time | | A long Time ago: The Events that take place in the Star Wars films and Books | | Before Recorded History: The events of Willow and Loom | | ?BC: Events of Gladius, Herkules | | Late 1600s and/or Early 1700s: The Events containing the Monkey Island Games | | Late 1800s: Outlaws | | Early 1900s: The Young Indiana Jones adventures | | World War 2 Years: Indiana Jones Movies and Fate of Atlantise | | 1950s: Indy and the Infernal Machine, Grim Fandango(Based on the Land of the Living images seen in the game) | | 1962: American Graffiti | | 1970s: Howard the Duck | | 1980s: Maniac Mantion, Zak McKrackens adventures | | 1990s: Day of the Tentical, Zombies Ate My Neiabors | | Late 1990s Early 2000: The Dig | | Near Future(20+years): Full Throttle | | Farther in future(50+years): RTX Red Rock | | Realy Realy far in Future(100-1000+ years):THX1448(er...or whatever the number is) Sam and Max isn;t on the list as it is not part of the Lucasverse(They are Steave Purcell's creations and owned and controled by him) and Grim Fandago realy can't be placed. I've probly left a few out. So help me fill this list up, so that people wanting to creat Crossover fan fics(like me) can know when everyone comes from. EDIT: Changed some dates around....
Hellbeard Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Silly Willy Billy! The time line is for when the games are supposed to take place!
BooJaka Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Wasn't Loom set in the distant future? Forgive me if I'm wrong...
elTee Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Loom is separate - fantasy doesn't count 'cos its not on Earth. American Grafiti was set in the 1950's, actually. Grim Fandango is like Loom, separate. BUT the style is 1920's/1930's.
Hellbeard Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 well that means star wars, dott, and monkey island are gone
elTee Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Star Wars isn't separate. It says "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away." That's still our universe, and our timeline. DOTT is set when it was made, and in the past and in the future - to be exact, 1993, 1793, 2193. Monkey Island has a date on the verb coin, if you look. But Pirates of that nature were around in the 1500s, 1600s and 1700s.
Hellbeard Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 Star Wars is Fantasy DOTT is Sci Fi (talking tentacles, time machines) Monkey Island is Fantasy (Undead Pirates, Demons, Talking Sculls, Different Dimensions, Voodoo)

This isn't the "Real world" This is the Lucasverse were Fanaty and Sci FI exist. Just cause a game or movie doesn't have parts other genres doesn't mean it can't coexist in the same universe. Indy had some weird Voodoo stuff going on so its existence confermins that it can exist in the Same would as MI. Same goes for a lot of the games and movies. They all have conections.
scabb Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 You can probably get a good idea of the decade in which Grim Fandago is set in if you look around when you visit 'The Land of the Living' (Someone else choose a number, I have no photographic memory). And you could argue that Monkey Island is set in the 1990s - It was all a dreeeam (Please don't dispute this, save that for another thread)...

No, I think remiO is correct when he says the 60s (no apostrophe) "Where were you in 1962" Source: http://us.imdb.com/Title?0069704 As for Monkey Island... doesn't Blondbeard's Membership card to The Brimestone Pirate's club have the date 1748? ... 1700s.
The Adventurer Posted August 9, 2002 Author Posted August 9, 2002 But remember how Kenny Foolmouth states "Meat Flavored Gum? That is sooooooo 1650s." That would sugresst aroud 1670-90. Thats my guess. I don't think theres any established time. But when did pirates roam the Carbian anyway?
Hellbeard Posted August 9, 2002 Posted August 9, 2002 And Your verb coin says some other time! There are far too many times that the game could of taken place!
Sopabuena Posted August 9, 2002 Posted August 9, 2002 Silly Willy Billy! The time line is for when the games are supposed to take place! I know! It was a VERY GOOD JOKE about EMI being all modern and stuff
Hellbeard Posted August 9, 2002 Posted August 9, 2002 Yeah? Anyways, star wars should not be counted because it doesn't take place on earth!
The Adventurer Posted August 10, 2002 Author Posted August 10, 2002 Originally posted by Hellbeard Yeah? Anyways, star wars should not be counted because it doesn't take place on earth! What does that have to do with anything? Most of the Dig didn't take place on earth. Star Wars just takes place a realy realy long way away in a Galaxy far far away. It still feesable for it to exist in the same universe. So it stays.
The Adventurer Posted August 10, 2002 Author Posted August 10, 2002 Originally posted by Hellbeard So why would Grim and Loom count!? because Grim DOES take place on earth. Remember the "Land of the Living" Thats earth in the 50s(I think) Loom could have very well taken place on earth. Either in the Unrecorded part or in the far future. And IF it did take place on another planet its STILL the same universe.
Hellbeard Posted August 10, 2002 Posted August 10, 2002 Sorry, i meant to say Why wouldn't grim and loom count! Lucastones has confused me!
elTee Posted August 12, 2002 Posted August 12, 2002 No!!! All I wanted to say is that Loom isn't in the same timeline! It could be a primitive society, or it could be the most advanced that world has yet seen! It could be the Earth equivalent of 2000BC, or 4000AD - there's no way to tell!!
