elTee
Here is the new page on LucasTones devoted to my latest project - a LucasArts version of the Lord of the Rings. It will consist of eight 60-180 second movies, each about 10Mb to download. This is the main point of this post - if this filesize is too large for everyone to be bothered to download the videos, I won't bother. I have already made the video trailer, and some posters which are already uploaded. I hope to upload the trailer soon. The videos are not animated, as such, but more like a comic. Also, music will be used to full effect. The story is working quite well, and I'd enjoy some feedback. Basically: -Is the filesize too large for most people to bother with? -Are you actually interested in seeing it anyway, regardless of filesize? -Do you like the posters? Thanks. Hellbeard
ROFLMFAO!!! Btw, That picture of Guybrush makes him look Like a Hobbit, he should be Frodo! You should Make Bobbin as Gandolf. Sam and max as the two trouble making Hobbits. Rip Burger as the Wizard Evil Guy with the White Beard. Indy as The Human Dood. Wally as Sam the Hobbit. LeChuck Could be the Shadow/ Fire Demon. Cutthroat Bill as the Dwarf with the AX. Bloatis as The Cave Troll? Laverne as the Magical Dwarf Queen person. Ed Edison as Bilbo. Have the Undead Army as Orks. Elaine as that Elf Heroin. Edword Van Helgan as The Bow and Arrow guy. Thats All I could Think Of (i've only seen the movie) edit: Ben should be the Other Human Dood, and The One of The FT biker gangs should be the Ring Wraiths! mercatfat
That's going to eat up a lot of bandwidth.
elTee
I might store the files on another server. This is the cast list: The Fellowship: -Dr. Fred (Gandalf) -Guybrush Threepwood (Frodo) -Indiana Jones (Strider) -Green Tentacle (Hobbit) -Ben (Boromir) -Sam (Legolas) -Max (Gimli) -Bernard (Hobbit) -Hoagie (Hobbit) the fellowship aren't really based on individual characters though, its just a guidline as for who does what. I know who is going to be Sauron, Saruman, Elrond, Galadriel and Arawen, but you'll have to wait and see.
elTee
Hey, good news! I made the video smaller by half, to see if it still looked ok. It does! When I render it all up it should only be about 5Mb!
Hellbeard
Hey Tones!? Have you made it yet!?
elTee
You should check my site. I made the trailer and part of the first episode, but the smallest I could get the file to was 10Mb. I didn't think people would want to download it if it was that big, so I stopped. I'll upload the trailer if you want, then maybe people will want me to make the rest of the episodes. Alien426
I don't know why you keep saying that people won't download a 10 MB file. People go to great lengths getting tons of MP3s and demos and maps/mods, trailers, flash animations... all sorts of huge downloads. To answer your other questions: Yes, I'm interested in it. I'm not sure what to expect, though ("...a LucasArts version of the Lord of the Rings..."). The link is broken.
Wizball
Alien426: Quote of the news section of LucasTone's site: "On a sad note, I have to abandon my project to make the LucasArts Lord of the Rings. I got as far as the trailer and the first installment, but the filesizes ranged from over 200Mb at the largest, uncompressed to 10Mb at the smallest. That's just too large for me to upload, so I can't do it. " Case closed
elTee
No no no no hold on. I didn't think anyone wanted to see it. I'll upload the trailer... uh, well now I guess. But the link IS broken. I'll sort that out soon, cos I kinda removed it cos I thought it'd be in the way if I was abandoning it... bear with me a few days it'll be back. elTee
Until the page is back, here are the posters: Purple Tentacle Sam and Max (should say idiotic, not idiot) Guybrush Threepwood The video is in the process of being uploaded. Its the trailer and its 10Mb. Exactly. Odd, that.
Scummbuddy
Thanks for posting the well, posters. I wanted to see them, and I will definitly give these movies a look. This is one of those things Spaff was looking for to bring some life back.
Alien426
I like the pixels! It must have been tempting to filter (blur) them out.
elTee
Yeah, I coulda done that, but I guess it woulda been false advertising. They'll be pretty pixelly in the movies. Speaking of which, I have finally got the damn trailer online! Find it (all 10Mb of it) here
elTee
PS - if anyone is wondering, the other 7 movies do have animation. Its not like the trailer, where only the camera moves.
Hellbeard
Whoah! Kewl!!! (why exactly was that 10 mb!?)
elTee
You downloaded it already??! Well, the reason its so big is the audio file. I know its only a minute long, but I wanted the audio to sound good. Maybe I could reduce the quality of the music and then the filesize would be smaller. Scummbuddy
It's not bad. I'm looking forward to the animated ones.
Hellbeard
I don't think you should use MI2 guybrush, MI1 guybrush would suit the role better I think!
elTee
No, MI2 Guybrush is my fave. He has manly stubble. And he actually looks like a pirate, which is an added bonus.
Hellbeard
Yeah, but MI1 guybrush looks more like Frodo!
QueZTone
im curious to what you're exactly going to do with this? explain, please the trailer looks promising
elTee
Basically, 7 of the key scenes from the fellowship of the ring movie (I'm not using the book as a basis because less people will be able to relate to it) are recreated using characters from LEC games. As I said earlier: -Dr. Fred (Gandalf) -Guybrush Threepwood (Frodo) -Indiana Jones (Strider) -Green Tentacle (Hobbit) -Ben (Boromir) -Sam (Legolas) -Max (Gimli) -Bernard (Hobbit) -Hoagie (Hobbit) And Gollum, Arwen, Galadriel Elrond and Saruman have been cast, but they aren't being revealed. Not yet. If you mean the style, then let me explain. In a similar way to the (brilliant) Day after Day of the Tentacle site, the scenes will consist of loosely animated characters and speech bubbles. I'll upload a short preview of a scene without music as soon as I have it available. I stupidly deleted all the images I was going to use because they were taking up space and I thought no-one wanted to download it. On that topic, if 10Mb is a hefty download for you, then wait. I'm working on a much smaller version with reduced quality audio and a better compression codec.
