A small question to the admins/mods

I've been noticing the crackdown on links to people's, etc. why not have a forum where people can just promote their sites there? I can understand closing a thread with a person with 1 post count posting a link to their site/forums, but someone with 200+ posts? That's a little harsh. :(

Thanks for that, Rogue15. :)

We're certainly not trying to be harsh or unfair...but I can see the reason for restricting posts simply advertising other sites, including some fan sites. If everyone wanted to make threads about their sites, which are not related to LucasForums, or indeed any games that LucasForums covers, then some forums (such as the Swamp) could quickly be over-run by 'ad' posts...which would be no fun for anyone, IMHO. Some of the more spammy threads that get started, are already eating bandwidth and server space.

To be fair, there is a fine line to be drawn here. It is not as if we simply close threads or posts that contain links to other sites...if those sites are brought up in discussion relating to something of interest, then we leave them alone. However, posts that offer no meaningful discussion, just a link and someone saying 'Check out my site', don't really fit very well with the 'discussion' part of the forums, IMO. If it's a JK2-related fan site, then it may be of interest to some of the other members here...and I'd encourage those webmasters to submit their sites to jediknightii.net, to be announced in the news section of the site.

The idea of another forum seems plausible, if the admins were willing to dedicate the space for it.

well, it costs money for more bandwith, right? perhaps people who wanted to could donate money to Lucasforums, so we could have more boards etc. (Howerver, I wouldn't be able to donate money cause I'm only 13) :D Just a thoguht

weird thing is that i was plannin on askin the same thing. i was thinkin on makin a promote site (jk2 related/sw related) or something where ppl would be able to tell about their site. but if we dont have that much space on the servers, ... well, never mind then.

its a bummer tho, cause i think it would be very popular.

well, i would definitely support this. that would be awesome if there was a promotion area. then ppl wouldn't have to mess up this forum with those. they could do it somewhere else! and if there is another section, i would like to be a mod there. :D

Rogue15 is a super mod and has contact with administrators often. We'll see if there will be one in the future. As for now, don't ask to be a mod there, because it interferes with the rules (see top).

Enough with the asking to be a mod. If you ask, chances are you won't become one. It's just a general rule that everyone seems to forget.

Fifteen's a mod, I think. And the chief admins are only around every so often, I don't know what the deal would be.
