Do Americans eat much curry?

It's an umbrella term really to describe a fairly wide range of foods. Infact, I think its one of those umbrella terms that is pretty incorrect, but everyone calls it that so there you go. Most people would think of curry as being usually meat (usually chicken but can be beef or lamb or any other meat really) with a spicy sauce, which is often served with rice. You can also have vegeterian curry, also very nice. It originates from Soth East Asia I believe, particulalry India. That is my laymans guide, because Im a layman on the subject

They are graded by how hot (as in spicy) they are, something like a Korma or Pasandra is very mild, wheras a Madras or Vindaloo is very, very hot.

It's worryingly difficult to find any good pics of curry online, here are a few to give you an idea:

Curry is normally served with a load of other stuff, naam bread and other snack type things which make it very varied.

As I say it is really one of those incorrect umbrella terms - in this country its regarded as 'going for a curry'. The meat with the sauce is the main part of the meal.

I'm certainly not an expert....I'm sure someone else can give a better explanation of what curry is, just trying to give you an idea :)
