wampa_one
Ive just brought a copy of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis CD Talkie version on ebay. I just wanted to know if there are any other differences between that version and the 3.5" disk version apart from it being talkie? Thanks for your time
Benny
None that I can think of, off the top of my head.

Ender
Originally posted by LucasTones I have it on CD and I never noticed a difference. Good acting though. It is? I recently got a copy for some ScummVM testing, and IMHO it's the worst voice acting I've heard in a LEC game to date. Very stiff and droll. It's one of those times you can tell each line was recorded seperatly, because the intonation changes between each line. Loom sounded far better, despite the syncronisation problems

telarium
I think Fate of Atlantis is second place for worst LEC voice acting. The Dig would be #1 in my book... mostly because it's bad dialogue combined with bad and flat voice acting. Fate of Atlantis was at least in the early days of talkie computer games and was still trying to figure out how to do it right. And no, I wasn't a fan of Doug Lee. elTee
I thought that the acting fitted how the game looked - the game has a totally different feel in terms of colours to previous LEC games like Loom and the Monkey Island games. Its hard to explain - I mean, CMI has great voice acting, and so does Grim Fandango, and while FoA isn't one of the best, the voices seem to match the characters. I still haven't got my hands on a copy of the Loom CD talkie - its infuriating. I have a fully boxed floppy disk version, so all I want is the CD from Ebay. But nooooooooooo, people have to sell it as a CD / box combo, enticing more people to bid... damn them...
Alien426
Originally posted by Carl Shutt The German accents are appalling. I haven't had time to play the CD version, but the self-running demo was funny: "Zee wadd Herr Jones hes kaindly prowaided..." Loom's voice acting is OK, but the technique they used is sucky. One audio track for all the voices... I always pray for the health of my DVD-ROM when I play it.
Wizball
LucasTones: Check ebay.de (Germany). They have LOOM talkie sometimes. It was sold in between the release of the American version and the German version a few months later. http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21931&item=2087733407 (but already at a steep price depending what you think it's worth). This time the seller (a really clever pro) does put "US" in the subject of the auction so people are willing to pay a lot more. Other sellers don't do that and so the price is considerably lower. In fact I got my LOOM talkie boxed with the Audio drama on ebay.de... Just read the description carefully and maybe send the seller(s) an email asking about the language version. Hope it helps
