Oh there's no thought involved... It's just sheer laziness. It's less energy to weigh .25lbs more than it is to bother going through what I need and what I don't. Actually, looking at the list, I'm surprised at how often I use most of it. I'm also surprised no one asked the obvious question (unless you all read the XWA forums too)...
