Obi Peg
Basically I'm quite lazy and have a lot of free time on my hands so I was thinking of starting to delve into some wider reading on the star wars universe - mainly books which take place before the movies and interlink them! If u can tell me where to start off - i.e the first books based on sw and the order they are in I will lub joo long time If i enjoy the books i may even do a celebratory dance! Can-able
http://www.ic.sunysb.edu/Stu/dwongfau/forumfaq/index.php Try that...Gives most of the Books and comic's in Cronilogical order EDIT: Better Link http://www.randomhouse.com/delrey/starwars/timeline.html
swphreak
mainly books which take place before the movies and interlink them! The Han Solo Trilogy is good. It takes place before ANH and it ends right there in the bar before he meets some old man and a whiney kid Shadows of the Empire takes place sorta during/right before ESB. those are what I think are the only good prequel book I have read. I think most of the good books are after RotJ. like Rhett said, The thrawn Trilogy is very good, and if you don't want to read everything else, at least read the Hand of Thrawn (Spector of the Past & Vision of the Future). They really good too. Dealing with Thrawn.

Obi Peg
Well I trawled round my local sci fi shops and even *shudder* waterstones (expensive ) and picked up most of the first section of books I was looking for. Managed to get almost all the Jedi apprentice books bar 1&2! Got all the Han books as well as the main film ones but couldn't find the 'Adventures of Lando C series' Does anyobody know of online uk sites that supply these books? I have checked the forbidden planet one and no joy

legameboy
or just go on ebay, but you probobly dont like used stuff
UnfrozenCaveman
You could also check here: http://www.half.com it's an ebay company but i'd rather shop there. I've purchased books there for $0.75! Also, you may want to read the Bounty Hunter War trilogy along with Shadows of the Empire- it's a good read. And I recommend I,Jedi along with the x-wing series!! But if you only read one thing (trilogy) make sure you read the first Zahn Trilogy, the first books ever written in the Star Wars Universe!! -Heir to the Empire -Dark Force Rising -The Last Command It really creates the basis for a lot of what happens after ROTJ. Thew Rydur
Yeah, I'd say the Thrawn triology is the best. Check out the "Tales" Books (Tales from the Mos Eisely Cantina, Tales from Jabba's Palace, and the bounty hunter one), they offer a lot of background info on the minor characters from the movies. "I Jedi" is worth a read too.

Originally posted by Dradle Go to the New Jedi Order Novels. These novels are the best in the StarWars Universe. Then are those the only ones you've read? The NJO is not the best series... it got very repetative to me and I quit it after the third book... I suggest either, The Thrawn Series The Courtship of Princess Leia Spector of the Past Vision of the Future
swphreak
You don't like the NJO? Dude it's awesome.. well, some books are the best (Traitor, Force Heretics, and others). I thought the Han Solo Trilogy was good. It showed us what Han's life was before the movies.
legameboy
Truce at Bakura is a good read too, takes place right after RotJ , (and i mean right after
Dradle
If you have only read thru the first three, then you are missing out on the Best Serise. Shot, the Vong haven't even shown what they can do. And lets not forget about the Solo Kids. Now I know all the rest are great X-Wing, Black Fleet, Tales... But with the NJO peaking at 20+ novels, and with a new book coming out every 3 - 4 months. No other serise can bring a SW fix to you.

StarCords
If you like prequel and interconnecting books, read "The Approching Storm" I'm in the middle of it right now and it's truly captivating.
Obi Peg
Well I have got my order through from internetbookshop and managed to get copies of the jedi apprentice series (bit kiddish but still interesting - I'll read anything ) Also got: Cloak of deception Darth Maul: Shadow hunter Ep1 - tpm The approaching storm ep2 - aotc Han Solo Trilogy Adventures of Lando Calrissian The Han solo adventures I think they are read roughly in that order so it should keep me busy until swg is released
swphreak
OMG! I can't believe I forgot Shadow Hunter!!!!!!! That is an awesome book! You got a good startup.
Dradle
The Approching Storm has some great sences in it. Like the whole tribe meeting/party, where the jedis have to perform. Nice book. Also you are missing Rogue planet and the new EP2 book {don't remember the name off hand} and that would complete you EP1 and 2 Books so far. As for Shadow Hunter, Maul should be happy he died in EP1. Vador would have ripped off his tattoos from 3 solar systems away if he was around and saw Maul almost lead the whole Jedi order to where Darth Sid. was at.
