I went myself a painballin'!

Recommended Posts

And it was great, let me tell you. This was actually my second time I've done it and the first time was with pumps. We went up to a ranch near us with my youth group. The weather wasn't the best, buts that's ok. We had about 20 people, and I was on the red team along with 4 other guys and 5 girls. We played five games, and lost 4 of them. But the one we won was all thanks to me. The terrain was forest, and in that particular game we were mostly of the side of a hill. At the bottom of the hill was a creek. We were playing capture the flag. Once the game started I went along the crest of the hill staying close to some of my teammates. Eventually I started to get ahead and lost them altogether. I could see some members of the other team up on the hill, so I decided to head down to the creek. I was then pinned down on the creek bank by a few of the other team. Luckily the person who was the biggest threat ran out of paintballs. I decided it was time to make my move. Their flag was in the middle of a small clearing, and I knew I couldn't just grab it because there were 2 people guarding it. So I decided to go around and come down on them from the top. I started sneaking around past their flag and the clearing, when i discovered I was almost out of paintballs. I figured I would just use them all then just rush the flag. All the while I am sneaking up the hill on the other side of the flag. (Un)fortunately they knew where I was most of the time, but couldn't hit me because I was staying behind bushes and trees. As I was getting pretty close to the flag, one of the people guarding it jammed their gun. I knew it was my only chance; I slowy moved in until I was about 15 feet away from the last person guarding the flag and yelled "Freeze!". He surrendered and I promtly grabbed the flag and proceded to place in in our base. We win! And I still had one paintball left. Now for the pictures :D

painball is fun... UNLESS you get the dicks playing with you who own the professional guns. Then it gets really unfair and not fun.

I'll never forget being out in the open vs this one dude... i had a rental gun and shot 3 shots at his chest. 1 went left, 1 went right, 1 went over his head. Keep in mind I NEVER MOVED! He took one shot at me and hit me in the ear... think that was a tad unfair? Man was i pissed...

Ah man, that sucks pretty bad. The marker I had wasn't very good (Brass Eagle Stingray) but it was what I had to use. I borrowed it from my friend since I don't have a gun yet. Almost every one else used Tippman 98's that they had there, but one guy had a Spyder TL Plus.

That's what I use, Tippy 98 Custom.

I actually love my Tippman, I shelved my Impulse altogethor because I get more reliability and easier upgrading with my Tippy. Plus my Tippy is more rugged than anything else out there. I'm tough on my equipment! ;)

What happened, Rogue Nine, that made you hesitant about Tippman's?

Sweet. Sounds and looks like you had fun. Well, that one girl with the now pink hair looks somewhat pissed. :D

I'd try paintball out if it wasn't for two reasons,

1. I can't move fast and am not exactly hard to spot. :D

2. I'm a sissy.

Oh, it just sounded more like the only Tippman you would even consider using would be a 98 custom, and even then, under protest!

Tippmans are great. They are durable, easy to maintain, and are extremely versatile. They chop balls less frquently than many other guns, and pretty darn accurate right of the box with the stock barrel. And you can't beat the price for a professional grade paint marker.

Anyways, How often does everyone go out paintballing? I go about 1-2 times a month.

You shelved an Impulse? I'll take it if you don't want it anymore :D;)

Oh, and about how often I go, we actually have a couple fields in or around or town, which is pretty nice. Although I haven't been able to go to them yet. I'll go more often once I get a gun. After witnessing Tippy's first hand, I can definetly say that they are very nice guns. Especially if you get some upgrades (new barrel, double finger trigger, dropforward, etc.). But right now there is a little bit different gun that I have my eye on.

Sounds like fun! I have the same gun as your friend in the first picture, except mine has a special site on it. I want to get a new one, but it will be a while before I get that.

I once had a guy come up behind me and yell "surrender" (we have the surrend rule - if you get the chance, you yell surrender...the person on the other team can either surrender, or try to turn around and shoot you)

Well, I didn't hear who or what he said, so I started to turn around to see who it was and he shot me in the butt from about 3 feet away. That hurt.

Phreak, don't be afraid of the paintballs, the worst that happens is you get a welt. See the picture up above w/ the guy w/ the welt on his arm.

Yeah, what he said. BTW, that guy got hit on the bare arm, and as you can see a large welt is about the worst that can happen. I came back with absolutely no welts or pain what so ever from that trip. I got hit on the side of the leg, my left elbow, my gun, my thumb (which hurt the worst out of those), and some other places that didn't break.

Oh yeah, my friend has the sight for his gun too, but didn't use it this time.

hehe well of course. If I ever find aplace near me and can get friends to come with me, maybe I would...... and if I can find some nice armour too :D:p

You don't need armor. Just wear multiple layers of clothes.

Example: an undershirt and a longsleave shirt (i got a polyester shirt from walmart for $12 that works just as well as a paintball shirt) (that is in warm weather)

In cold weather you can add more layers (3 or 4) just remember that your body heat will help you keep warm, so don't layer to much...you can't remove a jacket in the middle of a round.

the layered clothes protect MUCH better than one thick layer and keep you cooler.
