Kwebo Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 I am intruiged by joining an RP server but don't see how it could be enforced or publicized. I picture 12 year old Counter-Strike convert installing SWG and joining "Sunrunner" server because it sounds cool and not being aware of roleplaying, or simply not caring about it. I see that The Associates have already declared they will be on the role-playing east coast server but who else is planning on being on a roleplay server? I am curious for feedback on this topic for anyone who has roleplayed in an MMORPG before.
Damarius Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 I have Role Played my characters on EQ and various other games and plan on joining a SWG server that support that as well.
Opa Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 I am rping to, but there might be some lamers :/ just ignore them

She is a hardcore RPer, for now wait she won't be that long. Oh, Welcome to the forums mate.
Kaiser Isaac Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 Obviously ther will be lame pvp chars on a rp server (only cuz they cant handle a pvp server) but a good method of getting them to cross over is by role playing with them.....even if they dont do it back.....they will eventualy get confuesed.. (or how ever you spell it)....and they will play aong......With that said.....good bye...
Lord_Vessen Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 Well if you are neutral you have to accept a duel so...
Kaiser Spaso Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 i like rp'ing but i am not big on PA's.........i like being a loner.....but i am a good team player.
Kaiser Isaac Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 a loner huh......well ilike the whole han solo aspect...... you know the smuggler with his big harry sid kick.......
setsuko Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 Most often, certain areas on a RP server are better for RP than others. For instance, you'll see more RP outside the starting cities, simply because you'll see more experienced players. If you want to avoid the unexperienced roleplayers, simply find out where the experienced roleplayers hangs around.
-=ReApEr=- Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 Originally posted by Kaiser Spaso nah i think Chewy ran the show Agreed, chewie isn't no softy. Once the game comes out, we will probally see more servers for pvp and rping.
Xx_Patman_xX Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 I dont really understand what you do in a PvP server. Can someone explain. (100th credit! )

Wraith 8 Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 lol.. we had a question about PVP servers.. and now roleplay http://www.swgalaxies.net/servers/ there is all the info you need. the starsider is also a roleplay server
setsuko Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 A PvP server is a server where you can assume that the people around you want to fight you. On a regular server, there's a lot of people who are not interested in fighting other players. These players mostly keep away from PvP servers. In gameplay terms, this means that far more players will be overt imperials of rebels (since that means more PvP), and that challanging people to duels will result in a "no thank you" far less often.

And on Pvp servers, it is best to be in a PA. Just incase one of your fights, get a bit too tough.
Danyx Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Ahem! Someone mention my name while I was away on vacation? Most RPer's are flocking to the unofficial east coast rp server, Starsider. A few are going with the unofficial west coast rp server, Sunrunner. I will have my main on Starsider, with the guid I've decided on, The Monastery. Whenever the server is down, my alt will be on Sunrunner. : winks at Reaper.
