Kaiser Isaac
When you downlaod a patch in SWG.........does it download automaticly when you try to get on........Or will you have to search a website to download it........
Deft Aklin
It's automatic. The Launchpad also has access to a chat room and in game settings for graphics and such.
Kaiser Isaac
Ok good..........I am a big fan of ingame downloading.....It seams more stable then searching websites.......but thats just the way i look at it.......
swphreak
ea, when you launch the game, it does a scan, to make sure none of your files are corrupted or to see if you need them. And there is a chat area. You can come and get owned in the Trivia room with the lazy Trivia Droid or talk in Troubleshoot with problems
Dr. Zaius
However, ingame downloads are most of the time, slower to download then what you would get off a website. We shall see, some games have good ingame dl and some have real poor ingame dl.
UnfrozenCaveman
I'm a fan of ingame downloading- also, i found that it was easier to download a patch later, when not as many people were probably accessing the server.
Damarius
Thought some of your would like to know that the size of the patch will only be 20mb.!! http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/betaswg/Forum2/HTML/017535.html

Sunshine Badass
Damarius: Where does that link lead? It wants me to join the Fan Club. What craziness!!!
Deft Aklin
It goes to the Beta forums, so you won't have access. I'd delete it, but it's already been posted all over the net....if you're looking. Floating Harvester?:
Sunshine Badass
So is the 20Mb only for beta? Or will we have to download the patch on release? My mind says: Dumb question, Sunshine... The info should be included on release, but a few patches will be necessary in the coming weeks. DEFINATELY necessary.
Deft Aklin
He's talking about the patch today, nevermind him. That was a beta update we received today.
TheMaestro
I think patches will be handled same as any online game...they might be massive at first for Galaxies, but we'll see.
Kaiser Isaac
Well i most patches are around 20mb i should be fine........I have 56k.........It should only take 1 hour.......thats saying alot considering i downloaded a patch for battlefield 1942 and it took almost 4 hours...... Deft Aklin
The main thing is, your first patch. When did they print the CDs? How much will change between then and release? Could be a few of you with a 8+hour download on that first day. I've had some three+ hours downloads during Beta and I have a cable modem. Let's hope for the best. The last two have had a lot of changes, but were small patches. Yet again....secret location screenie...Corellian statue. Humorous story, I found this my first day of Beta. I was so into beta that I climbed the highest mountain I could find and low and behold...a friggin statue.

Lord_Vessen
56k having a 150 ping time? Hahahahahahaha. Eherm. Well I do not see why you try to show off your 56k connection Isaac . It may be a fast ping but it sounds like a dl nightmare:mad: . 4 hours for the BF1942 patch? Jeese. That would suck. Oh well. At least I have a cable modem. Jan Gaarni
Can we please stay off the 56kers backs. It'll get the job done, as long as your computer is up to the task of running the game really well.
