Mort-Hog
It's base 2, as opposed to base 10 that you normally count in (as you have ten fingers), so instead of counting from 0 to 9 you count from 0 to 1. Remember when you were learning to add and subtract you'd put the numbers in different columns, the units, the tens, the hundreds, the thousands? Well, the simplest way to convert to binary is by doing exactly that. Let's take the number 76. 10^0 10^1 1 10 6 7 That's the base 10. The base 2 table: 2^0 2^1 2^2 2^3 2^4 2^5 2^6 2^7 1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 0 0 1 1 0 0 1 0 And all you need to do is find numbers that add up to make the digits. So, 76 would be 64 + 8 + 4, so you put '1' in those columns, and 0 in the rest. That'd make 00110010. I'll let you figure out how to convert back. :-)
