Is KOTOR worth buying an XBOX?

I hate Microsoft. I'm just gonna say that up front and get it over with. If Bill Gates developed and rare, uncurable disease of exploding testicles, and died, I would dance on his grave religiously. Because I think he sucks. Anyway, I swore to: myself, my friends, Buddha, Allah, God, Satan, and any other poor soul in hearing distance that I would never ever buy an XBOX. But, I want KOTOR. And I'm an impatient bitch who watches TV with captions on. (I'm not deaf, either.) And, my computer is the technological equivalent of monkey semen. As a matter of fact, it froze when I was trying to make this message twenty minutes ago. Anyway, Satan isn't answering my bartering for my soul, so I'm wondering, from you guys and gals, "Is KOTOR worth losing my integrity, or is it really not that good?" What say ye?

From my point of view I think it is worth waiting two months for it. I don't play console games much, and I can live without them, I just always wait for PC Versions to come out.

This is a little quote from a geek test I took some time ago.

I acknowledge that Bill Gates is both God and Satan.

Sorry, that's off topic.

Edit: Okay, I'll tell you. He made the most compatible operating system also the most buggiest operating sytem. He also (Well, Microsoft, anyway) bought out Bungie and made Halo Xbox only (for the time being). I just really hate him.

90% of "bugs" I've encountered in windows (95 and 98, not XP) are the result of terrible third party software and bad device drivers, which aren't nearly as much the fault of MS as they are the device manufacturer.

I have NEVER, and I mean NEVER, crashed XP on my completely clean system that wasn't being used for anything but Photoshop, music, video editing and word processing. It does have minor problems sometimes, but they're always my fault, usually because I'm overstressing my ram.

I'm on a different XP-based computer right now which is loaded with programs and background tasks, but it's also never crashed.

The Xbox version won't need patches.. also, the bonus ish will be available for Xbox too, thanks to Xbox Live. It said so in an interview somewhere.

But yeah, one game shouldn't make you buy a system. There are a ton of great Xbox titles out there if you're willing to be open-minded, though.

Granted, I think if I had an Xbox, I'd get more games for it, but is it a game good enough to be worth having an Xbox for? Like, everyone gets a system for one or two certain games, and then gets other games, so would this game be of those types of games?

Edit: I'd post this in the KOTOR forum, but I wanted a partially unbiased ('cause hey, it's Star Wars) opinion on this rather than: "Y34h, d3wd! KOTOR 0wnz! Y0u sh0uld d3f1nat3ly g3t an Xb0x! w00t!"

Hmmm, see I got my XBOX on the strength of the price drop, and for Halo, amongst other games that are around.

I got it on the premise that since it has a specialised Windows OS, and Direct X 8.1 (I believe), that portability of games would be a dead cert. Many more games from the PC world, and vice versa would be around.

Now that I have it, I don't regret getting it, but still think of it as my main platform to buy games for, and not my Athlon XP 2600+ / 512 MB RAM (Twin Bank enabled) GF4 4200 system I recently got.

Don't get it, if you don't think you will play other games on it other than KotOR, but with Blinx, Timesplitters 2, etc there are plenty of good games out there.BTW Why oh why isn't KotOR out here in Australia yet??? Gonk, where is it, u should know when it's out here... I hope August 29 isn't acurate...

There is lots of great Xbox games to come out next year so it would be worth getting an Xbox now.

get the X-Box.

Whilst they may not be as great or have the modability of their PC counterparts, the fact that you can INSTANTLY kick in a game of Counterstrike (w/ X-Box Live!), Halo 2, half life 2, Doom 3, Star Craft Ghost without patches, drivers etc.... Its good.

And if MS would release a Mouse & Keyboard combo ( a DECENT one,not like the DC's poor mouse - was FAR to sensitive even on lowest) then it will be complete!

X-Box ain't going anywhere for the time being. Halo and Halo 2 kick magor arse. I saw a preview for the next one and I thank God. There are also loads of games like KOTOR, heard some form of FF, sports games are best on the X because of live, Mech something or another is great live, many many many good games.

Just get it. You know you want it. There are a lot of great titles out there so have fun with it.

I would not buy KOTOR on computer because I want to feel a controller in my hands and I don't want anyone in my house yelling at me to get off the computer so they can get on. I would like to play in my room at 4 AM if I want and not told to go to bed because they hear me clicking away or the lights are keeping people up.

AUGUST 29th is my 20th birthday! No more teens.

Personal experience: If I had an X-box no they would not because I am located upstairs and our walls are pretty nice. I wouldn't like the computer for that game thus I would not need a mouse. And my mouse rules! Optical kicks butt. How did I ever live without such a simple improvement?

I swore to myself too that I would never get an XBOX. And I haven't, but my little brother has, and to tell you the truth, it's not that bad: graphics of most games are incredible, controlling is reasonably good (though takes a bit of getting used to), and the massive chunkiness of the console enables you to cram-pack a lot of other stuff in there. Don't simply dismiss it based on the developer's other products/systems (which is stupid, because like mercatfat said, I have had no serious problems with XP since I got it last year). Believe it or not, the XBOX is actually a good system. My brother will be getting KOTOR on it, and I'll be playing the game non-stop ^^ Have a look around for some other XBOX games you might be interested in getting. There are other good XBOX games, ya know;)

Bit sick of the MS bashing, with well over 80% or more, probably closer to 90% using a Windows operating system. How can you slag them off, when you use their product all the time without question?????

The XBOX suffers in Japan because it's not Asian in origin, that is just the way they look at things. Elsewhere it seems to suffer the trendy backlash that MS is too big, etc.

Stop slagging off a company, that you will continue to use their OS without question - I doubt too many here are on Linux. The XBOX is a very good console, just suffers from peoples perception of a market leader in PC software...

To address the actual point of this thread:

Yes. I got my XBox for 2 reasons - one, I knew KOTOR would be coming out on it first; and two, the price dropped on it a bit so I didn't have to shell out as much money (plus it came with 3 free games, so...).

Was it worth it? Well, since I got KOTOR on Thursday I've logged over 19 hours on the game, so yeah... it's worth it. It's fecking awesome.
