wassup Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 What do you peeps think of spawn-camping in games (mostly First-Person Shooters like Quake III, etc). Is it a cheap tactic used by noobs OR something that should be accepted as part of the game? Personally, I feel spawn-camping is legit and should be accepted, though it should not be over-used in certain situations.

I have fun killing spawn campers:D I think it's lame but at the same time ok I mean I understand wanting to get points but I always have played game for fun so I see no need to spawn camp....
BigTeddyPaul Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 It is and it isn't. Like in BF 1942 and you have one spawn location left with two possible points all an engineer has to do in lay some explosives around and wait for the spawn. Get anywhere between 5-10 kills that way and people have to try and live. If you just happen to be there while someone spawns that is okay but I would say I don't appreciate it if that is all someone does to get kills. If they are a good player and do this occassionally I don't mind. I will still be pissed but it is a game. BigTeddyPaul
Darklighter Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 I don't think there should be such strict rules when playing games like these, players should be free to use any tactics they deem as useful, as long as there's no cheating. It is as much a tactic as the run-around-guns-blazing method.
RoguePhotonic Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 I love spawn camping in games where they can't do **** like operation flashpoint...
BCanr2d2 Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 Each to their own I reckon... Although the force choke/pushers on the Nar Shadaa level in JK2 were testing my patience.
swphreak Posted July 24, 2003 Posted July 24, 2003 I always use force chock/push/pull whenever I have the chance. I really don't care if someone calls me a <insert> whore. I suck and I need all the leverage I can get.
RoguePhotonic Posted July 25, 2003 Posted July 25, 2003 ugh push and pull..one reason I could never stand playing online...
Hellfire Jedi Posted July 25, 2003 Posted July 25, 2003 In the best mod for Half-Life The Specialists it has more htan 1 spawn point. And it has a 2 second spawn protection. Mods like this make things better. I.E. More htan 1 spawn point for the whole team.
Agen Posted July 25, 2003 Posted July 25, 2003 It depends how severe they are doing it, doing it to noise up your friend is one thing but trying to win the game like that is a straight no-no. Come on man, how low can you get (unless it's for fun).
Guest Jed Posted July 25, 2003 Posted July 25, 2003 I accept it as part of the game. Hey, if they want to, go for it. IMHO, it's a bit lame, but they're winning, aren't they?
