  1. EMI has story with comedy mystery elements with all those things Guybrush has to investigate Maybe it would have been better game if it had game play of mystery game also? I mean, maybe it should had individual locations open up during investigation instead of each chapter having locations to explore from start and maybe it should had dialog system with new topics constantly opening up when Guybrush uncovers new info? (Stemmle and Clark used those game play devices successfully in Hit the Road after all.)

  2. Not sure if anyone already posted this, but the puzzle on Terror Island where you need to find the right path inside the cavern was initially going to use a lizard. My assumption is that the lizard would guide you to the right entrance. The leftover assets also include the lizard animation moving in different directions and freezing with fear.

  3. I had to make this thread just to end my triology (DOTT, Full Throttle) Grim Fandango just got announced as part of the physical releases the Double Fine remasters got by Limited Run Games. I wasn't sure this was going to be a part of this, considering the recent iam8bit PS4/Switch releases, but I'm glad it is. This is the standar release, with the new artwork that was used in the remaster. I'm not particullary a fan of this cover, it always felt like concept art to me. Since we are on topic, I do prefer the iam8bit cover without the sleeve (right) And now to the collector edition: I think this is by far the best one yet. It respects the original cover, the poster and print are in line with the game. The postcard is a nod to the original manual. The piƱata USB drive is super orignal and I personally love the bone wagon replica. With this being said, it's almost $100 dollars. As a bonus, to tie everything together, if you preorder the three games you get a triangular box reminiscent of the DOTT one back in the day: I think it's a nice extra, but I think that the artwork is so different between the three games that it clashes. Plus it's not clear if this is a bonus of all the editions or just the regular ones, of if they will fit in the box.

  4. Oh yeah, the cigar! I guess it's a legal thing where they're not allowed to show smoking in some territories or some stores.

  5. Personally I think a more direct continuation could have been like: Big Whoop smashing open let whatever crazy magic inside it seep out It's the presence of Big Whoop that interferes with LeChuck's spell to transport Guybrush into another dimension The longer Guybrush and LeChuck stay near the ruins of the chest, the more the Big Whoop magic permeates and the weirder things get (brother, parents, fairground, etc.) Elaine appears in the Big Whoop dimension and helps him remember that he's not a kid The two of them try to escape back to reality but Guybrush is tricked by LeChuck Instead of transporting himself and Elaine out of Big Whoop... he transports LeChuck and himself to where LeChuck wanted to send Guybrush originally... Hell! In Hell LeChuck is lauded for his behaviour on Earth and immediately given a position of power... Unfortunately for Guybrush, all LeChuck wants to do is torture Guybrush for eternity Fortunately for Guybrush there's some sort of technicality with his life and he's not immediately condemned Stan is also there in Hell... having died after Guybrush nailed him in his coffin Stan doesn't care, though -- he's unflappable, he's always looking for another scam to run in order to get some power in Hell Guybrush needs to escape Hell, but when he tries to leave he discovers he can't because he doesn't have a spiritual essence (after LeChuck destroyed it in MI2) The lack of spiritual essence is why they don't know what to do with him in Hell... a bit of good luck Much of the game is spent with Guybrush trying to get his spiritual essence back At some point he meets his own spiritual essence in Hell... But he has to be careful... once he has his essence back he back be tortured for eternity, but without it he can't escape Guybrush finds himself incredibly annoying and unpredictable to deal with (like other characters found Guybrush on earth) Eventually Guybrush does escape and finds himself back on Dinky... Elaine is waiting outside... they reunite. The power of Big Whoop is mostly gone... but there's still odd moments here and there Back in Hell LeChuck is blamed for Guybrush's escape Stan has spent the game scamming everyone in Hell and is locked up next to LeChuck... forcing LeChuck to spend eternity listening to him The end
