I'm glad to hear you're enjoying Empire! I feel that the 14 free units was a nice gesture on CA's part to make up for the shambolic state the game was in after it was first released - I never encountered the problems others were having, but it was pretty shocking. And an extra 14 for £1.99 isn't too shabby at all.

And of course, the user-created content is superb - first thing to do was get a proper music mod - I want my Baroque & Classical, not Gregorian chants! I just wish someone would change the British Navy uniforms to a nice blue.

And I may have something to do with reskinning Hannover.

I was a bit annoyed about the minor factions just having an RGB value for a uniform, so I thought i'd try and do something about it - I really need to get back round to finishing those off, actually - I've still got the entire Cavalry branch to redo!

There does come a point in time when one has to consider the futility of it. I can only drive a Ford Fiesta into a brick wall so many times before it's not going to work anymore, to use a rather crude analogy.

I'll at least go into a discussion with an open mind, and I still have an open mind regarding things such as CHCs, and so on, but some people just won't change their minds...

Things could have been even more different had Prince Albert not intervened in the Trent Affair - that could have brought Britain and France into the war, and quite possibly have destroyed the Union.

I'm glad it didn't happen in the end, but it's an interesting 'what-if'.

Total Realism is very good. But personally, I prefer 'Roma Surrectum'. It's got just about the same level of realism.

But really, it's down to personal preference. I don't know if you've seen it before, but there's a list of mods and their forums here on TW Center.

The problem i've got is trying to include romance without it sounding childish, or too crude (we are PG-13 here, after all).

Unfortunately, I think LA would do something horrible to it.

One of the best RTW mods I have played it the LOTR one - I only bought the Alexander expansion to play it, but it was worth it - watching as 350 elves stand against 1000 orcs is amazing.

That's the other thing that makes them so great - their mod-friendly. I'm not sure how the new requirement of STEAM will affect this, but i'm hoping there's going to be some good ones for Empire.
