Well, I tried modeling some specific weapons for the new HK, ones that were place so that they fit in his hand better, but with the current floating issues they didn't look very good.

You mean the negative effect? There are two ways you can do it. One is to invert the colors on the colors tab, and the other is to place it against a black background and use the "Grain Extract" tool on the layers menu.
