Open beta: The Return to Monkey Island Trivia Game
neoncolor8 replied to Remi's topic in General Discussion
My middling Return to Monkey Island trivia game score: 166/170 MojoMeter: πππππ https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/RemiTrivia/ What a ride! Although I'd really get the full score one day. At what point does counter of the wrong answers reset, or is this a bug? I still got the Cogg Island question wrong on all the possible answers when I tried it a few times. -

Open beta: The Return to Monkey Island Trivia Game

Great game! Got quite addicted to it! Is there a correct answer for the Cogg Island Question? It's different in the game, I know, but I get the impression that it can't be answered correctly here? -

I've read it a couple of years ago, would be nice to dive in again. -
Return to Monkey Island Physical Box Release
neoncolor8 replied to MichaelSon's topic in General Discussion
I just realized that once again there's a character on the cover (of the soundtrack) that doesn't appear in the game. Another victim for Terror Island in the making. -
I like this a lot, I had to think of Marius' 'I wonder what happens in...': ' I'm Guybrush Threepwood and I am dead, wait, am I singing? Laaaaaa!'

I just played it. Boybrush doesn't exist in this ending? Feels delusional to choose this. I thought he'd still tell the story to his son in the end. Hmm. Btw the music during the credits is great, very lively, I don't recall hearing it in the game.- 703 replies

Return to Monkey Island π¨GAME-WIDEπ¨ Spoiler Chat
neoncolor8 replied to Jake's topic in General Discussion
I think this is my canonical ending! It incorporates the theme park and the hell idea. It doesn't devalue the stories of all the games, because the secret is a real thing (gate to hell) and the fantastic pirate world is real too. The flooring inspector reality is literally hell and it's the result of finding the secret. It makes a lot of sense, would be cool if it was actually intended.- 703 replies

Lechuck mentioned in his diary that he gazed at the stars and even found the 'grog mug'! There might have been a puzzle involving the night sky. The Melee clock was mentioned in this thread, and it feels like there was a puzzle planned: -There's a gear from the clock in the museum and a dialoge about repairing it. -the clock got updated with sun and moon symbols -the same symbols are on the clock on Cogg island (as someone mentioned above), which shows the same time. -the map to the secret shows the Melee clock tower, but with a different time, which is very strange. I made myself sad, because I feel like I would have really enjoyed these kind of puzzles that might have gone deeper and screw with the reality. I imagine the 'secret' only being in place when the time is right, so changing the time on the notorious clock might have been essential have access to it.

I don't think that there's a list, but there are several Monkey Island podcast episodes by 'Super Marcato Bros. Video Game Music Podcast'. They talk about the music of the games, make interviews (forgot which composer was Interviewed), and they also try to find out (or at least guess) who wrote which music, iirc.

I can't tell the characters apart, the two pale pirate leaders and the museum guy and the composer on the ship, it's really confusing for me (but this might be a personal issue, I'm bad at recognizing faces in real life as well). I really like Flambe, didn't do much, but that's his life moto apparently. He knows nobody can do anything about him being lazy, he's a demon after all and a handy underwater light source! Just chilling in the crowsnest. I know it's not a new character, but I love how they presented the cook in the Scumm-Bar, the spiritual journey and mop enthusiasm!

I don't know if this was already discussed, but why did the melee clock show a different time on the map to the secret? I thought that there was gonna be a puzzle where you had to repair the clock and change the time according to the map (8 o'clock or maybe 11:40? hard to tell) to get access to the secret. But no. Also: who put the safe there? Stan?- 703 replies

It says MELEE on the shirt. When the turns left/right the font flips too, so it's mirrored on one side. Reminds me of the discussion if Bob's Pegleg is on his left out right side (mirrored sprite). Was he always called Apple Bob? Also I thought the museum and the (bit annoying) curator were a nod to the overly-analytic fanbase (aka: also us in this forum), who till today make up their own theories and interpretation of stuff happening 30 years ago, and become something Ron/Dave have to deal with now.

Oh, I figured it's the same worldwide, I think you're right. It's amazing because I solved the NYT-Wordle first, came to post it in the forums (the result was a very Monkey-Islandy term) and thought wouldn't it be amazing if it's was actually the same word on mojole today and: BAM it was!! Made my day. Oh, maybe it's tomorrows NYT-Wordle if you're in the US? But I think it might be yesterdays. Edit: it's actually tomorrow's wordle in the US!

Which Monkey Island has the smallest number of monkeys?
neoncolor8 replied to Vainamoinen's topic in General Discussion
If we would count every monkey that we can't see, curse would have the most: 'Hordes of ruthlessly-trained monkeys are hidden away deep within the bowels of the park ... bound to immense machines of destruction and family entertainment.' -Lechuck (Big Whoop Amusement Park scene at the end of Curse) -
Ahh that's why it's confusing to watch, thanks for the explanation!
