  1. It depends on what kind of action hero. I don't think we'll see an Indy capable of jumping around moving cars and tanks like in Raiders and Crusaide, but the movie can still have plenty of action and letting Indy have his usual badass moments, without him being this super buff dude who solves all his problems by punching people (not that Indy ever was like that). I'm actually wondering if the movie is going to address Indy's old age and him still having these wild adventures. Cristal Skull kind of did with some moments that were mostly played for laughs, but maybe in this new movie the whole conflict could be "Everybody tells Indy he's too old for adventuring, but he's too stubborn and wants to continue, because it's been his whole life"

  3. That's a cool interpretation too, but that only makes me wonder how come RoS merits this kind of thoughts while TLJ doesn't. Maybe I was a bit too hard in saying that "this is how Abrams resolves it", I meant to say that that's how it felt to me.
  4. Moving on from the Jedi order doesn't mean forgetting it completely and destroying their legacy. It means acknowledging their errors while learning from both the good and the bad parts of their history. The thesis of The Last Jedi isn't "destroy the past", Luke and Kylo are both wrong about this. The thesis is "let's move forward, with an eye on the past and another in the present". "Abrams" resolved this in the sequel by stating that "nope, the past is the only thing that matters, we defeat the emperor (the only really cool bad guy who should come from the past because that's what important) by using that good past force genes that came from Skywalker and (apparently) Palpatine".
  5. I don't know how difficult it would be to bring to consoles the first three games without them controlling weird. Escape was already made for the PS2 and its controls kind of suit it better for a console, and Tales, while being made for the wii in mind, which essentially has point and click controls, did have ports for other consoles if I'm not mistaken. The Special Editions too had console ports, but from what I hear, they were just "move the mouse cursor with the joystick", which is never fun. From what I understand the console controls in Return had more thought put into it, and could be a new good standard on how adventure game controls could be ported to consoles. The only way I could see good ports of the first three games to consoles is if they're remade from scratch with the Dinky engine and maybe HD assets for Curse
  6. Another This made me wonder, will Return to Monkey Island manage to attract new players? It's true that adventure games are a niche genre, but maybe with all the publicity and the game being published by Devolver, could it bring more people to them? On the same topic, how many people do you see in the future saying that this was their first Monkey Island? Could Return be a good entry point to the series like Curse was (me included)?
  7. I like Star Wars, but instead of crying like a baby when something set in that world is not of my liking, I choose to ignore it and move on. My Star Wars canon includes all the movies (except Solo and Rise), the Clone Wars 2D animated series (because I don't feel like watching however many episodes there are of the 3D one), the animated snippet from Holiday Special and that's it. I still have to finish watching Obi Wan Kenobi, but it will probably fit in my headcanon. I don't really feel like watching the rest of the series on Disney Plus, because that's too much work, but maybe someday I will, who knows? Also I really like the animated series Droids, one of the best Star Wars things out there and super underrated
  8. I wouldn't 't cross that out. I've seen people shocked by these kind of things before in other media, but creators do this kind of stuff way more often than one could imagine

  10. Yeah, my opinion on the subject is pretty much this. They are a growing threat that if not dealt with could bring the galaxy into another dark age and they have to be stopped. As far as the quality of the film itself, the Last Jedi is ok, for me. I used to hate it, because it seemed to destroy those plot threads that the Force Awakens tried to introduce, but (after hearing more varying opinions about it) I understood what it was trying to do with the themes of change, of growth etc... So now I appreciate it more for its themes and for trying to bring something new to the Star Wars universe, instead of continuing in the same old thread of "the Skywalker family is powerful with the force" and "the dark side is totally bad and only the light side is good" Still, the chase with the rebel ship doesn't make any sense, that general lady could have avoided Poe whole story arc just by telling him what her plan was and there are too many Mark Hamill trolling moments (i guess they were trying to make him like Yoda?), but it's more of a "nice ideas, not so good excecution"
  11. Me and my girlfriend actually did! I wanted to write that, but I thought it would have been too cliche
  12. So I can finally post my wall of text on why the best Star Wars movie is actually the second Ewok movie!
  13. But where is my EMI pandering at??? I think it's cool that Murray is becoming a more active part of the cast instead of just kind of being in there like in MI4 and the majority of MI3 (except for that one puzzle). Tales made Murray as a sidekick work, even if it was only for one part
  14. I would imagine this thread could serve for but is not limited to: "I'm loving/hating/liking/disliking the game so far" (but without spoilers) "Is it on GOG yet?" "Is there a physical release yet?" Whatever the heck we talked about in the other spoilery thread when there were no spoiler yet News about the game, launch, events, etc... BUT without actual game spoilers
  15. I don't actually have that many expectations for the game. I already know I'll love it from the snippets that we've seen and from the interviews because it's made with LOVE. I have loved every Monkey Island game so far because they were always made with love and care, and even if they had things I could nitpick or plot twists that made no sense, they still had the spirit of Monkey Island. Even if I played the first two games last (before Tales came out) I do think of them as separate from the others, because they have this special atmosphere that the others don't really have, but that doesn't really mean that the others are less quality games. I don't know if Return will give us back that magic feeling that the first two games give, I'm not expecting it to do so, but I'm not expecting it NOT to do so too, if that makes any sense. I do wish that it did, because it would be a dream come true if this could be the final chapter of the "Ron trilogy" everyone wanted, but if it's a different Monkey Island game like the others before, with its own atmosphere and its own special feeling I'll be happy too.

  17. But what if your favourite games are Escape and/or Curse??? In that case, isn't this the same answer as "I'm expecting nothing less than MI1+2 level greatness"???? I don't think we care about the scores, more like, we hope it gets high scores from critics because in the industry future projects in that game category/series will be judged not only on the game quality itself, but on how much it sells and how much is received. Anyways I'm really hoping the games gets high scores and sells well, I think reviewers could give it 90% and up only on reputation/name alone, it seems like the name "Monkey Island" is now finally being recognised as an historic "brand", but maybe it's just me.
  18. Curse was the first Monkey Island game I've ever played. With that being said, even after playing the others, I always thought that Big Whoop had something to do with the Secret and that LeChuck used its powers, but that he didn't really know how or why it worked that way. I mean, everybody knows that there's a weird voodoo power in Monkey Island that makes people ghosts/zombies/warps reality/creates giant monkey robots, but nobody knows why or how it's there, not even LeChuck
  19. I was thinking about the dialogue system and how Ron always lamented the fact that many games don't really do interactive dialogue like he imagines it. From what we've seen with every #MonkeyIslandMonday dialogue trees, it seems like every dialogue choice by Guybrush could lead to wildly different responses and consequentially to another set of different dialogue choices and so on, making the game possibly quite different every time you replay it. I don't know if that's the case, but if that's so, it makes me very excited. Especially because Escape and Tales gave you very limiting dialogue choices and that was always kind of disappointing. I always thought that the first two games were kind of analogies of their lives anyway, with the MI1 talking about Guybrush wanting to be a pirate and embarking on this bigger than life adventure without really knowing what he's doing (kind of like Ron made Maniac Mansion and MI1) and MI2 talking about Guybrush trying to live another different, bigger adventure and try to go forward with his career (like they were doing at Lucas and how Gilbert did by leaving and founding Humongous). It makes sense that this game would talk about Guybrush trying to return to the past with some prospective and some very well understandable doubts by everyone else. In one of the last interview posted here, they said you actually have to look for it and pick it up. Maybe it's a vodoo book you can buy/steal/borrow from the vodoo shop in MÊlÃĐe

  21. It's nice to see that Ron finally warmed to the close ups and will never have anything bad to say about them ever. Anyways, it's odd to see the pirate leaders actually being kind of important. I always figured they were the pirate leaders just by name and that they just sat at the Scumm Bar drinking grog and not really doing anything. I mean, I thought Guybrush could have gone pirating without asking them and it would have been fine, only he was super naive and thought that he really did have to ask. I think it has more to do with the fact that the game starts right after MI2 and the story will probably address the first two games in a big way, seeing that the seeds to figure out the Secret of Monkey Island(tm) are in those two games. Seeing how Curse is set right after Guybrush escapes from Big Whoop and then there's that whole exposition dump with LeChuck at the end, it seems natural that they'd have to be careful not to screw up with that game. Everything after Curse would be very easy to deal with story-wise, to be honest.
