Agree with all of this. The parallels between the Monkey Island games and various David Lynch properties have been there all along -- MI2 was obviously released before Mulholland Drive but there was a weird amount of similarities between the two. (Let's just assume Lynch ripped off MI. (Let's not.)) Seeing Gilbert is a stated fan of The Return -- let's just assume that is where he got the ReMI title from (let's not) -- I wouldn't be overly surprised if there were some tonal similarities at least.

Yep, that Kixx box blurb I'm fairly certain is verbatim what the ads were saying. I assume some discarded marketing copy made its way into the wild.

I'm gonna repeat what I mentioned to Marius earlier -- the El Carlo thing was briefly mentioned in both marketing and previews for the Amiga version before it just... stopped. I was quite literally starting to think I had imagined it (as I never gained any traction talking about it over the last 30 years) so I'm very happy it is now a stated fact!

Agree with Benzo. It's just an incredibly satisfying experience, the kind 2021 needs. The post-game game is also surprisingly full of new content -- it's a lot of fun being able to explore the environments with a completely different eye on them.

Just for the hell of it I started messing with cleaning up the MI2 hint guide maps (all linked below). The most interesting one to me is the map of the Dinky tunnels, which features an additional room. It amuses me that Guybrush was a literal foot away from falling into a room full of unobtainable wealth. For the rest of the maps: Scabb Booty Phatt
