  1. Bloody hell, it really is. Granted, it is not quite the same situation as the title theme, where that was literally reused as is, while this is a different rendition of the same tune.
  2. Where was the smuggler’s cave reused? I don’t remember that. 😳
  3. Jesus Christ, another one of those that’re immediately recognisable (even from the tiny snippet) but I couldn’t match a name.
  4. That’s a little embarrassing. Monkey Island Heardle #336 🔈🟥🟥🟥🟥🟥🟩 #MonkeyIslandHeardle
  5. Yep, someone’s mixed those up. The track name is completely wrong.
  6. These bloody SEs. Monkey Island Heardle #334 🔈⬛️⬛️⬛️🟩⬜️⬜️ #MonkeyIslandHeardle

  10. What are everyone’s thoughts?! I’m not reading it, but it’s like I am reading it, reading this thread. If you know what I mean.
  11. Let’s see those single greens roll in! Monkey Island Heardle #329 🔊🟩⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ #MonkeyIslandHeardle
  12. Haha yeah that first section wasn’t familiar to me at all either. I will not be posting my result.
  13. I noticed during my recent CMI expedition that there’s quite a lot of that in the game. Guybrush varies from a bit odd to downright demented-looking during his ‘special case’ in-game animations — grabbing Murray with the hook, stuff like that. Stuff you likely wouldn’t have much noticed on the 5cm large screens of the day.
  14. Frankly, I think Return added a lot of confusion to this topic. The perspective seen is nothing more than misdirection.

  16. One of the all-time great pieces of framing, that scene. The way it pans in as you walk down.
  17. There should at least be some nice Broken Sword stuff to track down?!
  18. Regarding the CRT filter, doing this via the web could be a challenging project if someone hasn’t already built it, but you could just take a second set of screenshots via something like ShaderGlass on the desktop. It would be a one-off pain but then would allow for easy viewing on any device. Perhaps an on/off setting next to the pictures. This is obviously getting quite ambitious but could be iterated on over time, and Mojo has plenty of people who are good at this sort of thing. I have let my best people (Remi) know about the potential interest in hosting and/or implementation.
  19. Yes… much easier… Monkey Island Heardle #326 🔈⬛️⬛️🟥🟩⬜️⬜️ #MonkeyIslandHeardle

  21. Yes, no disagreement there. I think you have two purposes really: 1. A comprehensive, self-contained, and easily copied artefact that contains as much of the content as possible with minimal if any loss of quality — the real archivist’s resource 2. A more explorative museum-style experience for people to dip into and enjoy, who aren’t so much interested in the archival itself and just want to look at it and it be presented in an engaging way I think your PDFs suit #1 well, while for #2 it’s good to have things like the Mastodon bot, and an attractively structured and presented website that works well on phones as casual browsers are akin to use. Or better yet, print then all out and put them in the exhibition hall! 😅
  22. I think that depends on how the site is presented. JPL has expressed they find the limitations around how they present and organise the images frustrating, and there is no medium better suited to giving you complete control of this while still being compatible with virtually any device for the foreseeable future than a website. You can use any tool you like to make this easier and the web archive will archive it just fine, as long as it’s online for a while. In my mind, something like Remi’s efforts here and here would work great for a project like this. Personally I’d prefer browsing something like that (or JPL’s original site) than having to deal with PDFs. It’s also very easy to save images from websites, nest links, build a hierarchy, etc whereas this can be flaky with PDF readers on various devices and/or just not suited to the medium.
  23. I’m sure you know this, but if you go to web.archive.org, it will automatically store copies of websites it knows about for all eternity. As far as I’m aware these aren’t compressed, and it is presented exactly as you chose to do so. It is also versioned by date. Now, the discovery part is more challenging. There is no end of gold out there, but knowing it’s there is another story. It also struggled a lot more to capture everything with the early web, while it is much better nowadays — and if you manually trawl your archive and notice something is missing, you can command it to fetch it from the live page for future copies. One thought I have had (with regards to my own projects like brutallegend.net and razputin.net (which now exist on web.archive.org only) and perhaps eventually grimfandango.net is to ensure they are archived properly on the web archive, and then perhaps find some way of linking to a certain copy on archive.org itself so it’s easier for people to find. https://web.archive.org/web/20010301044512/http://www.mixnmojo.com/
