The Cubs fan who caught the ball when Alou the left field outfielder had it, do u think he should have caught it or left it alone, i think he should have left it alone but he said he caught in the moment but i think he could have controlled himself, what is ya'll opinions to this matter.

Well, its quite an odd thing that happened to me today. My sister calls me up and asks me if i watched game 6 of the Cubs series and i said i did. THen she asks me If she saw "The incident" with that one guy (Who has released his full name, E-Mail Address, and regular address) and she tells me that that Guy actually works with her and that they're pretty good friends

I was pretty shoked, but i told her to tell that guy that most of us feel sorry for the guy and anyone in that situation would have done the same thing. I mean, it's just a game;)

If the guy hadn't been in the way, perhaps Alou would have caught the ball. But the guy didn't cause a wild pitch, nor did he miss a routine grounder to shortstop. And he sure didn't take the decision to keep the pitcher in the game despite the fact that he had already 120+ throwhs in the game.

Stop blaming the guy, anyone who would have been in his place would have done the same, when you see a fly ball coming your way you keep your eyes on it and try to protect yourself (or try to catch it if you're a player :p ), you don't wait to see if a player is gonna stop the ball from giving you a concussion and a trip to the emergency.

No one was blaming him. :p Everyone who has posted agreed that it wasn't his fault, because if he didn't catch it, he probably woulda got nailed....

I still believe that it was Gonzo's Fault, since HE'S the one who had an error to cause the bases to be loaded anyway. He's actually a pretty nice guy once ya talk to him. I am glad to say that he will not be commiting suicide anytime soon ;)

i feel so bad for the guy, everybody hates him in chicago and thinks it is all of his fault. i think they should just leave him alone and that he should take some of those offers from marlin fans for steak dinners and beach front condo stays. i mean look at the kid a few years ago at the yankees vs. orioles championship series game. the kid clearly reached out over the rail and grabbed the ball which would have not been a home run otherwise. this is not as bad. we dont know that the cub player would have caught the ball. everybody and chicago should give the guy a break

Ummm, not me -_-

Infact, the people at his work actually supported him and everything, even though he was being escorted by Police when he was at work.

Just as I said, it's only a game, and most people realize that.

Judging by those two statements, I'd say not everyone realises that....

That kid is responsible for the Yankees long lived reign of power. I think he's my hero. It's not very cool to interfere with the game that directly, but as KBell said, it's just a game. I know I would have done the same thing if it had meant getting an awesome playoffs ball.

I was watching the news, and the sportscaster circled everybody elses hands that were reaching for it. It would have been anyone of them. And the ball was in the stands. It would have landed in the stands even if he wasn't there. And as .:Coupes:. said, he didn't cause the error, miss a routine grounder, and choose to leave the pitcher in. The poor guy. Police escorts, phone disconections, all for doing what anyone of them would have done. They just didn't want to lose, and chose him for te cause of the loss. Nobody likes to lose, but come on, this is so stupid.

To anyone that has harassed him, either to his face, or not:KISS MY BIG FAT WHITE ASS!

:p

I was mostlty referring to the media and Chicago fans in my post, even the cubs players weren't so harsh on him.

I was just saying that the Cubs probably would have won the game, but I wasn't yelling at the kid. I could care less, As long as Grady Little is hung, and the Red Sox win....

Now that is a BS statement. What makes you think they whould of won? Can you see the future? Why make such a bold guess. You are assuming that if Alou caught it it would of been out #2. They still needed one more.

They were up 3 games to 1. They had 3 chances to close it out. To say they would of won if not for some poor fan is totally and utterly crap.

They have, no one to blame but themselves , it's time to get over it.

I for one, am glad they didn't win because I'm going to Chicago in a week and I don't want to deal with the crazed fans!! ;)

That's EXACTLY how I felt Tuesday night when I was at the Alice Cooper concert. I did not want to be near those lunatic fans if they had won...

Actually, you cant say he wasnt going to make that catch. The fan wouldnt have been blamed by so many if Alou didnt have a chance to make that catch.

I just hate it that the Marlins got it. Gah...oh well. Better luck next year, Cubs. You too, Braves.

Marlins proved to be the better team, probably the best team in MLB as of this moment...I mean they were only the 4th team in history to come back from a 3-1 game deficit in the semi-finals!!

But if he didn't catch it, the cubs woulda won.

Unfortunately, that is wrong too. They would not have won. It's sad that they have to blame they're sorriness on something or somebody. Either its the goat curse, or the human fan....geez...the Marlins were the better team, period.
