The sky is falling

Where to begin...

Redwing, STTCT, TK-421 (and anyone else in the So. Cali. area I miss right offhand)--you guys be sure to steer clear of those fires!!!

The big picture.

The situation is getting crazy down there. Fueled by the Santa Ana winds, enormous wild fires have joined together and are threatening the Los Angleles/San Diego area with a dangerous wall of flames. More than a thousand homes have been destroyed so far, and even our firefighting resources up here in Oregon are down there in what seems a hopeless battle. What scares me the most...and this is something I haven't heard brought up at all so far...is that these fires sprang up magically right at the very beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

On the radio, it's said that at least one arsoner was spotted setting a fire, then escaping in a van. Terrorism, anyone?

I do have a point here. I think it would be very helpful indeed for those of us so disposed to just take a moment and pray for the fires in So. Cali. to be brought under control. If we ask the Big Guy nicely for a break on the whole Santa Ana wind thing, he might listen to us. ;) Do it now! Thanks.

Isn't much we can do about the massive solar mass ejection, the largest in recorded history, that is headed straight for the Earth and due to hit in a little over seven hours, disrupting communications and power grids as it does so. :dozey: Better just ride that one out.

if thats terrorism then its just sick man. i mean dont they see what they are really doing? i mean placing a car bomb "is one thing" destroying the resources of our planet another. the consequences may cause effects for everyone. it just wont go into my head. nonono.

PLEASE STOP DOING THAT!

edit:

so in rage i forgot the most important.

to whom it may concern.. stay off those fires.

or if you help to get them down BE CAREFUL!

every step is dangerous down there.

That's a good idea if I ever saw one!

it'll take about a week before those gills come. and um, seeing is that you're not going to need them, lemme take your lungs in exchange for now

I think I'd rather burn up than become a fish. Just because I live in the northeasternmost state in the U.S., doesn't mean I won't have a to dodge a fire...ever...uh-oh...

*mom sees her on computer. pulls out flamethrower and aims*

Mom: I TOLD YOU TO STOP PLAYING DAY OF THE TENTACLE!

lol @ andy^_^

The fires are too far away from me and red now, I dunno about STTCT, but we live in the city so they fire would run out of fuel long before it reached us...

and zoom, actually, on the news last night, 2 white males apparently, in a white pickup started the fires, and then some idiots saw those fires and decided to start more. There is a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the capture of any of the arseners. Imagine, 50 large for information.....guess it wouldnt hurt to ask around...^^

Last time I talked to Shan (STTCT), she said she would probably have to evacuate. Then she left, so, uh, I'm kinda assuming she did. ^^;;

We're just far enough south to not have to worry at the moment...for a couple days we had yellowish, ashy skies, and Death (for those of you who remember her) an hour or so up in Thousand Oaks was within a few miles of the fires at one point. Eep.

TK, I read that as "There is a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the capture of any of the areseners." Hehe. ;)

TM: I wouldn't mind living underwater, but gills are kinda icky. Unless they're cosmetically placed gills? ;) One can only hope.

Just a point of linguistic clarity...

Aresener: Way cool skyborne zap-happy starfighter pilot, with or without panties.

Arsoner: In a lot of trouble right now.

;) (Prayers for Shanz! Gaa! At least the solar flare was a non-event...)

My worst fears confirmed. :max: Actually, I do remember *Sparkpuppy* and hopes she's all right...

Glad to hear you made it okay, Ike! I didn't know you lived in that part of the state.

Okay. :dozey: Who else thinks there is terrorism behind the arson? To me, it just seems convenient that a dozen fruitcakes all of the sudden got the bright idea to surround San Diego with wildfires, all at the same time. It had to be organized...unless one guy did it, who can magically cross the LA freeway grid at high speed and not draw attention.

Hey guys! Thanks for your concern. The fire was crazy!!! It started out right by my house and worked its way down to my parents. I had to help evacuate my parents because it came a street away from there house. A 30 foot wall of fire! Luckily everything was okay. Just a house above them burned down and most of the fields that surround them. Sorry I didn't touch base with you guys, but I had to help evacuate them around midnight and then my flight to chicago left at 8:00 in the morning. I'm so glad that it is cold and rainy here :)

STTCT's all right! Yay!

Now we just have to find out how Death weathered the catastrophe. :dozey: It seems as if the fire is winding down. Thanks, God!

(Of course, the solar flares keep coming. Anyone see the aurorae where they live?)
