ZBomber Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 When I downlaod things, I usually get a box that pops up asking what I'd like to do (Like Save, Open, Close, etc) Well, it doesn't work like that anymore. When I downlaod something, it sends it right to my Temporary Internet Files Folder. Anyone know how I can set it back to how it used to be?
Sam Fisher Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 What is the d/l folder? Did you try a different folder?

I don't get an option anymore of where I want it downlaoded to.And its not just one website, it happens no matter where i try to download stuff. And yes Topshot, I looked for an option, but I coukdn't find one.
Mex Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Maybe you could try downloading Getright? I don't have a link for it sorry! x.x
topshot Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Damn. Try scanning for a possible infection. Either that, or try defragging your comp. Or do what Mike said.
ZBomber Posted November 10, 2003 Author Posted November 10, 2003 Infection? Nah. Its got to be somethign is checked off to just actomatically downlaod to a certain folder.
RoxStar Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Same with mine, but only for my XP user ID.
ZBomber Posted November 10, 2003 Author Posted November 10, 2003 Hmm... if I right click, and choose Save Target as, I can choose where to save. But if I just click a link, it just automatically saves to Temp folder.....
RpTheHotrod Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Exact same thing here. I have XP professional. As you have already discovered, I've been right clicking and saving target as...
XERXES Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 when you download something try right clickin and saving as....then you get to choose where it goes.
Swoosh Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 format I did it a couple of weekends ago and it solved all the nagging problems I was having. I was totally infected by spyware though.
Tesla Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 I have this problem as well, don't expect an answer & solution from Mircosoft, tried there and the acknowledge the problem but haven't done anything about it. You'll just have to put up with right clicking and saving, sorry.
BCanr2d2 Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 I now use Mozilla, but try in the Advanced Tab in the Internet Options and perhaps enable - Show Notification when downloads complete. Not too sure.
Joetheeskimo Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 ZBomber, I had this problem before and know how to fix it, but my memory is a little rusty. Check Interent properties and go to Advanced and look for a box titled "Confirm Open After Download". If there's othing there, try Folder Options (View->Folder Options).
ZBomber Posted November 11, 2003 Author Posted November 11, 2003 Strange, the notification box is checked, yet it still doesn't work.... I'm stupid when it comes to computers. ^_^
The Truthful Liar Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 Your computer will return to its factory state if you format. In other words you loose all data, it swipes your pc clean.

That's the trick...don't format your hard drive unless it's really necessary o_O
