Black Knight of Keno Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 My MotS doesn't work. I start it, it gives me a black screen and crashes. What could it be? I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but please help
leXX Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 I'm going to pop this thread in Technical Help, where someone might be able to help you. In the mean time, post your PC's specs.
Black Knight of Keno Posted March 16, 2004 Author Posted March 16, 2004 Computer: Windows 98 Graphics card: DirectX 5 for now and a PCI graphics card if I remember correctly CPU: Memory: 1,96 Gt (It has 160 Mt free right now) CD-Rom: Not sure, looks like a normal CD-ROM drive. No specific double speed or anythin' Sound card: None Input device: Keyboard and mouse(DirectX 5 compatible) If you mean those Not quite sure bec. I'm not an expert in English OR Games
Boba Rhett Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 Was it working before? It just all of a sudden stopped working? Are you sure your operating system is Windows 98?
txa1265 Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 Also - shouldn't you be able to run the 'Analyze your computer' from the Troubleshooting menu off of the main launcher? What does that tell you? If you're on Win95/98 it should be accurate. Mike
Sivy Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 go to start -> run -> type in dxdiag and make sure everything is compatible with whatever directX version you have installed.
Black Knight of Keno Posted March 16, 2004 Author Posted March 16, 2004 Rhett, Umh, yes, my operating system IS Windows 98 and it worked before. txa, It say's that everything is ok Siv, everythings ok there
leXX Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 I would try re-installing it. It sounds like you may have accidentally deleted a necessary file.
Black Knight of Keno Posted March 16, 2004 Author Posted March 16, 2004 Umh, I've re-installed it like five times allready
leXX Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 What software or hardware have you installed or uninstalled on the PC since the last time the game worked?
BawBag™ Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 Dumb question - Is JK still installed on your machine? It could be that due to the fact MotS requires JK disc's etc.
Black Knight of Keno Posted March 16, 2004 Author Posted March 16, 2004 leXX, uh... Nothing except Mozilla Firefox BawBag, I re-installed many times JK:DF2 in the smae time that I reinstalled MotS and it was in my computer when I tried MotS when it crashed
Andy867 Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 have you tried updating your video drivers as well as getting the most recent DirectX version, which will significantly help with graphical issues.
Black Knight of Keno Posted March 17, 2004 Author Posted March 17, 2004 Now I have DirectX 9.0 Beta, I think And how do I update my Video drivers?
Sivy Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 Originally posted by Darth Tepe And how do I update my Video drivers? get them from the manufacturers' website (i.e http://www.nivida.com http://www.ati.com etc.) there should be a link for drivers or support where you can put in what video card you have.
Kurgan Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 If you have BETA drivers that might be a problem since those often have bugs and are incompatible with certain things. Get the LATEST official DX 9 drivers for your specific operating system and video card drivers. I'm using an (admittedly old) GeForce2 GTS 32 mb video card, but I'm running Win2kpro and have a modern processor, mobo, etc. and soundblaster live! and MotS runs fine. If you recently upgraded anything on your system or installed a new OS, an uninstall/reinstall may be necessary and as was suggested, check the system analyzer program and your drivers. -Update DirectX drivers -Update Video card drivers -Update Soundcard drivers -Reboot
