Sivy
what chipset graphics card do you own, ATI or nvidia? also in your opinion which is better, for insistence for... A) price B) support - i.e drivers etc C) compatibly i'm going to be getting a new graphics card soon and wondering which one to get. my last 3 cards have been nvidia and i've never had a problem with them. but people tell me that ATI is better, so lets see. Pie™
I don't know a lot about hardware, but i know that i have a ATI Radeon Powercolor 9600 EZ 256 mb ATI it is!
txa1265
I have both - nVidia in most of my PC stuff, and ATi in my Mac Powerbooks. In terms of delivering results - the GF4 Ti4600 in my desktop still cranks for gaming, despite being 'long in the tooth', but for laptop gaming (my general mode), my Mac's outperform the PC's, so I'd have to put that as the ATi outperforming the nVidia. BlackDove
ATI = AMD nVidia = Intel The rule of the underdog being better, but since the overdog spends money into heavy marketing and spreading the product, it's more compatable and popular. Bleh. Kinda. Hard to generalize.
Alegis
I agree with blackdove about AMD+ATI etc. I've always been for Intel and nvidia, its more $$$ but I also believe i get much more. It's funny that when i got my latest nvidia card some around me where like "oh no doodz, ATI si teh roxorz" and their cards broke the past half year, and showed a lot of incompatibvility problems before that

TiE23
A) price B) support - i.e drivers etc C) compatibly Edit: nVidia Geforce FX 5200 A) Bought it for $100 , now its like $80 B) I don't now, never any problems. C) Works with all my games, but seems to have problems with shadows and high poly counts, no difference on rez changes or texture quality. Levels I can run it at (Im fine with 25-30 fps) Good quailty: Raven Shield, UT 2003, Morrowind Med Quality: N/A Bad Quality: Splinter Cell, Deus Ex I like my card, its really cheap, too. Samuel Dravis
I've got a AIW Radeon 9700. Works really well...I've never had a problem with it either, except for the dynamic glow thing fixed with Catalyst 3.10s.
Astrotoy7
I have an nVidia GeForce FX 5600 'GO ' in my laptop, which is a measly 64mb, and I believe my GC has ATI hardware in it ! I really can't say which I like better, as I like playing them both. I am aware though, that even now, I cant run some games on super high-end settings(needing 128mb+) on my laptop...., but still things look good at 1280x1024 or 1024x768(KOTOR, Max Payne 2).. I did run JA at 1600x1200, and always got about 60fps, until I turned dynamic glow on and it dropped to 30 ! (yes, crow, thats right, dynamic glow !) mtfbwya
Sivy
ATI has taken the lead. but then how many of you still have the card that came with the computer and how many of you bought a graphics by its self, therefore having a choice between the two? Astrotoy7
Since I have no real technical knowledge, and own both brands of hardware in different systems, one thing to help the likes of myself decide my vote in this poll, was that the nVidia cards remind me of one of my fave cartoons when I was kid..... "Battle of The Planets" aka G-Force ! mtfbwya
Guest Jed
I've had a choice between the two, and I personally favor ATi... Even in their low end cards, the good is good, and the best is mediocre. (ATi Mobility Radeon 9000 64MB in my laptop, runs Raven Shield and UT2k4, AND Splinter Cell with ease )
XanaJedi
Quite simple... On a nvidia board you can make an omlet... ATI is overall better, better visuals, not so much fps dropping If you want a good card that is not too expensive i suggest you get a ATI Radeon 9600 XT 128 mb 128 is better then
