obi
Welcome to the new age, brother! =P XP is tons better then any other windows system. Trust me on this.
Samuel Dravis
With the possible exception of Win2K. The only thing it doesn't have that XP does is themes and slightly better compatibility. And XP has that stupid 'copy protection' which makes you not be able to upgrade easily.

coupes.
yeah, I shut it down long ago. Sometimes the actual process of reporting these errors made matters worse by eating big chunks or RAM.

Rad Blackrose
You cannot say that XP is the worst OS of Windows until you have used ME. It's nicknamed Might Explode for a reason.
MuRaSaMuNe
I used 98SE for the longest time and I had to reformat every month and since I've been using XP, it's been blue screen and error free. Well.... except for the occaisonal game crash which isn't XP's fault. But I haven't had horrible performance slow downs or random rebooting like I did with 98SE. The only problem I've had was last month when we had a thunder storm and the power went out and a surge of electricity went through the cords when the power went back up and it burnt out my power supply Damn you weather. MasterN64
I wonder why XP was built on NT technology. I've seen windows NT (shudders in fear). Does NT even have technology?!

toms
i've been on ME for a couple of years, and it is pretty stable... not outof the box of course, but if you keep an eye on it and tweak it a bit (and disable a lot of the rubbish) then it is at least as stable as 98SE. Having said that, i think i may be joining Zee in the next week or so and upgrading... i'm just worried about the whole copy protection rubbish... and that the new version will have loads more restrictive DRM. Oh, and that i'll end up having to upgrade my PC a month or two later as you always seem to have to do when you upgrade windows. BTW: Is there a worthwhile difference between Home and Pro?? I know pro is better, but for a home user (mainly games, internet and video, but also WiFi network) is it actually worth the extra money to get Professional? Why? Sivy
windows 2000 is very stable indeed. where i work we're running about 90 computers on a network all running 2K and we rarely get any problems. of course the problem with win 2k is game compatibility, especially with older games. as for the differences between Pro & home... well Pro is more about networking. it includes stuff like user rights, file access, network monitor, group polices etc. apart from that there is very little difference.
