i think if you're name starts with R, and you're old and nutty, you're numbers comin up this week.....

only today I found out that RC was on the gear for 20 damn years ! my respect for the man dropped a notch I gotta admit, but he did overcome it, to his credit....

Look man, I like you and all, but don't be a jerk. I am in no way holding up a single individual over another. Ray Charles or Ronald Reagan are no more important than The Iraqis that are suffering. There are plenty of posts pertaining to the Iraqis. If you want to talk about it, go there. This thread is devoted to Ray Charles.

c'mon obes, I like you too :) *hugs obi*

but I dont think its "horrible" at all, both men lived full lives, making their mark on the world and on history. Ray Charles has also left a wonderful legacy in his music, I dont think that's horrible at all... it was just their time is how I see it. we all gotta die sometime.... I doubt I'll make it past 50......... let alone 70(males in my family are not long lived :( )

Well, as in a sense of their legacy, the both did leave a lot behind, and will probably be thought of long after they are gone.

It's horrible for their friends and family, though. Mourning isn't an easy process. =(

It's a shame... the legends are passing and the worlds filling up with crap music...

I was actually on a plane with Ray Charles flying Hawaii to LA about 10 years ago.... not that I listened to a lot of his music back then, but still :)

Managed to catch him playing a year or 2 ago... he still had the moves :)

RIP ray...

The sad commentary on our popularity driven culture is that when Britney Spears twists an ankle or Christina Aguilara has a color change, there is a month of intense media attention ...

... but when Ray Charles dies, there's just a blip, Elvin Jones dies and there's just a CNN article, and Barney Kessel dies and no one outside the music community seems to know ...

You get what you pay for, and people pay for pop crap.
