Joshi
I'm not too sure, but in MOnkey Island 2, if you cut that guys wooden leg off before giving the woodsmith the broken paddle, is it possible to complete the game?

Yeah, he comes back (but not while Guybrush's in the workshop). Go to another place and go back, and he's there.
Samnmax221
Other then the monkey wrench puzzle I'v never gotten seruisly stuck if you leave out the fact that I did't know you could walk behind the bar in the 2nd year of grim fandango. Did it take anyone else freakin ages to figure out how to get back to Manny's casino in the second year after falling in the water? I just didn't see the stairs behind the lift! I actually loaded my game before I fell off and tried to complete everything I could find at the casino before leaving cause I was afraid I wouldn't get another chance at it. smokes o' pot
I was stuck on the hand thing in MI2 for weeks. It just made it worse the fact that it was so easy. The shame?
Joshi
It's always stupid stuff that's easy on reflection. The lice go on the comb! It's all so simple now!
Taffy3Rock
Bless me Father, for I have sinned. You know, I've been watching this thread for a bit, debating whether to admit my secret shame... The thing is, when I first played CMI, I think I must have been about 16, so I wimped out and played the "normal" (i.e. "easier") setting the first time round. (Thought it was fab, and blew through it in about 4 days solid)... But, when I came back to it a couple of years later, and attempted the Mega-Monkey version, I really got stumped on Blood Island. I'd managed to put that portrait of Goodsoup's grandfather over the door with the porthole, but for reasons unknown to myself, I really just couldn't get it into my head to cut the face out! It was one of those puzzles that you sleep on, wake up in the morning and go, "Ohhhhhh"...
The Tingler
Don't worry, there are plenty of times I've been totally stuck and utterly tempted to rush to the internet and find the answer. Usually if I just go away, do something else, and come back refreshed (without even thinking about it during the interval) I'll find what I'm looking for. Or I go to bed, think of something I didn't try, try it (no matter how ludicrous it seems) and find that it works. Let's hope Psychonauts gets us just as stuck as we get on these classics. Joshi
It's Schafer baby, it's gotta stump us at some point. Neither me or my friend could figure out what to do on the boat in MI1 (that first graphic adventure I ever played by lucasarts).
ThunderPeel2001
It's funny because the "boat" section was a bit of a breather for me in MI1. I just thought: "Cool, I can't miss any objects because there's only like four rooms!" Of course NOT being able to USE the cerial is a hideous sin... it was only through sheer desperation that I tried OPEN on the box. I mean you didn't have to OPEN the Grog-o-mints to use them, did you? Surely by "using" (i.e. "eating") the cerial you'd HAVE to open the box first... Anyways, I digress. All this talk about CMI has reminded me of something: I ALWAYS get stuck trying to get Yellow Beard to give me his gold tooth in Mega-Monkey mode! Even when I eventually figure it out, the next time I play it I totally forget and get stuck again!! Lol! Still, it's a challenge
elTee
Okay, yes the spitting puzzle in MI2 was never, ever understood by me. I always assumed it was a bug, because I figured you needed to spit first, then drink the drink from the bar, and you'd spit further. So I just spent ages trying different combinations of "hooooook" "*swish*" etc until it worked. I only found out about the wind thing years and years later. And also in MI2, I couldn't find the bucket for the swamp mud you use on Largo to get the bra. For months. Then I saw it silhouetted when I was outside Wally's, and I went mad. And when me and my sister first played DOTT we were totally confused. We were trying "use X with Y" with everything, and sometimes things worked and sometimes they didn't. We didn't realise it was all part of a larger puzzle, and the free-roamability of it made it seem like nothing was connected. You can complete it in so many different combination of ways, we'd only make a significant breakthrough every month or so. And yes, I cheated my way through The Dig too. The Tingler
Hooray! How did you work out that you needed the swamp mud if you didn't have the bucket in the first place? There are always puzzles (usually found in MI2) that are just "oh, let's try this" moments - more on a whim than actually thinking about puzzles. Which then come in handy later on. "Use glue on skeleton arm" in COMI is a fair example.

That happens with me, when someone says something like "I can't get that just by myself", or "without something else to help me" I'll try really hard to get it without knowing if I'd actually need it for something. theholyidiot
Taffy3Rock: "The thing is, when I first played CMI, I think I must have been about 16," I'm only 16 now, and I played most LA adventures when they were first coming out. As such, blame most of my cheating on extremely youthful indiscretion. I am happy to report, however, that I have been completely hintbook-free since Grim, Playing through LA adventures, the Syberias, TLJ, and others as they were intended. before that, however, I have a fairly sordid past... It was quite long ago, so I cannot really remember any specific instances, but I do know that in every adventure game I played up to Grim, I cheated at least once. You see, I was under the impression that I had to complete them all in one sitting. I don't know why this was. I simply had a burning desire to advance the story as quickly as possible with out all of that time-consuming "thinking." I am indeed sorry for what I have done, and have avoided playing any of those games for quite a while, in the hopes that I will forget them enough to truly enjoy them. I am theholyidiot, and I am a recovering cheataholic...
Alien426
Now, doesn't that feel better? There you go, you may cry, it's OK. The curious thing is, that playing through adventures again, I found that I keep getting stuck at the same puzzles. Solving them, no matter how long it took you, doesn't seem to be very memorable sometimes.
Rapp Scallion
Lucky you. I have the problem that I remember too much. So I have to wait a LONG time before I can play the games I have played again, and even then I remember them. Well, there's some games where I don't remember everything (either because they're so big, or because they haven't made an impression on me), but the Monkey Island series is lost for me. The only thing I forget is the insults. The puzzles and the stories, and the music is stuck. I wanna forget
The Tingler
I had to wait about 8-9 years to forget Monkey Island 2 - but bear in mind I was 8-9 years old to begin with! My memory's too good when it comes to adventures - for the simple reason that I play them over and over again. I still laugh at all the jokes, though. Especially Murray. I'm glad that they keep bringing in new fans over the years, and it was actually the music of Monkey Island that got me into Mix N Mojo.com. Well, iMuse Island specifically, but that led here quickly. WHY DID LUCASARTS CANCEL SAM & MAX 2?!!!!!? (breaks down in tears) Bring on Psychonauts. (sniff) All hail Tim Schafer, and Ron - where the hell are you, man?

Apart from that, the rest are a breeze after completing them once, so I'm almost like you in that respect.
Skinkie
The only one I'll get stuck in replaying in the Dig. There's just too much for me to remember there. It's nuts.
