Never been big on racing games, but this one is so much more than that. It's more arcade than just streight racing. There are all sorts of points to be scored for smashing the crap out of the competition. This is one of the few PSP games I checked out from work that really impressed me. Only thing I hate is the soundtrack. It's basically all that lame new punk music that seems to be so popular these days. Fortunately, I can turn that off in the options. It's a good game, and the price just dropped from $49 to $29, so I figured...what the Hell?

Man this game is everything I hoped it would be. I had reserved this game way back in January. I was excited because I was craving a good turn based strategy game for the PSP. When I sold my GBA SP and all my games, one of the games I missed was Advance Wars. I was really adicted to that one, so I was hoping that Sony would at least make something similar. Field Commander is better...MUCH better. This is the perfect turn based stratedgy game for a PSP...REALLY! Basically, it still plays like Advance wars. You look at the battlefield top down...select your units, and either move them and/or battle opposing forces. As anticipated you have so many moves per turn, and can create one new unit per factory. You can occupy cities, to gain money, and supplies, and you can also take over an enemy factory so you can build new units. You fight your battles with land sea and air units. You win the game, by either destroying all the enemy units, or capturing the enemy headquarters. The BIG difference between this and advance wars, is that Field Commander has the same gameplay, without all the annoying cartoonish over tones. Also, you can use your thumbstick to rotate the map 360 degrees, and once a battle is inititied the whole thing rotates and zeroes in to show the battle in 3D. The graphics are actually better than I thought they would be. Obviously, the military units such as tanks, choppers, and submarines don't really resemble anything "REAL", but they have more of an exagerated futuristic sci-fi look to them. The sounds are almost lifelike on this game, from the movement of helicopters, to the explosion sounds of mortar fire. The people that talk to you in this game are not annoying either. There is quick play, where you can just cue up a map, and set it to go, there is a single player campaign, and multiplayer ad hoc. You can set time limits on your turn if you want to make things interesting, which works if you are playing ad hoc with friends that take waaaaaaaaay too long of a turn. This game is totally worth the price tag of $39.99. (Although, I am even happier I got it for free, because it was a promotional copy sent to all the GameStop managers! Already, rank has it privilages!) I started playing the game around 8pm. Played two rounds, and when I looked up at the clock again it was already 10:45pm. Yes, it's that good. Don't let the 37 page instruction manual throw you off, it's easy to pick up and play, probably even more so if you have played Advance Wars before.

So basically its a total copy of advance wars but without the charm? Yay innovation! ;)

I still have 2 more advance wars games to play so i'm happy for now..

Killing the bots are still pretty fun. Though from the little time I've had on multiplayer it's not that much. I'm still experimenting.

I wasn't too happy with it on xbox live, but maybe that's because it seemed I was always playing a bunch of pricks, and it was laggy as hell.

But just playing with a couple friends on xbox live or playing it splitscreen is fun as hell. Maybe I'll steal my friends copy and frag you for a bit :p

It has a charm of it's own, and the battle animations make it really interesting.

I have mixed opinions about the game. It strives for innovation, and it's neat to be the predator in this game, but the camera and controls aggrivate the crap out of me. You are forced to play through the tutorial before you can get any further. Things only get interesting once you get to attack the beach, and take down a dock, but that is a short lived experience, and then it gets annoying again once you are captured and placed into a holding facility. (not too dissimilar from the one in Jaws 3, or even Deep Blue Sea) Once you get there, your objective is to capture a scientist holding a key kard in order to escape the facility. Fetching key cards in a game where you are an oversized man eating shark, seems way too silly. I'll have to mess with it more when I am not so tired. Still...eating scuba divers FTW....

512MB Kingston RAM

Hell yes, brought me from 384MB RAM to 768MB :D

I borrowed a friends copy of oblivion to test it out, and using my configuration (2000+ AMD Athlon XP, 768 ram, 6600GT OC'd from 500/1000 to 550/1100, and clogged up WinXP), I run it at 1024x768 at pretty high settings with little lag. Most of it happens when more than 4 people come on screen at once.

Now to actually get my own copy of Oblivion...

Do you run it with distant lands on? I had lag with it on. Glad to see it works alright. : D

Okay, my post. My parents got a big-ticket item. A $640 E500 n Olympus digital camera. 8 Mega Pixels. It arrived an hour ago and it's still charging and it looks pretty bitching. I would have prefered an Xbox 360. But eh, it's still cool. I'll post some pics I take with it to show off it's quality.

My mom wanted it because she wants to use the old lenses she has, this is her 3rd "real" camera. It came with two lenses and has 256mb of internal memory and has a nice big 2.5" screen.

It looks cooler in person and feels cool just holding it. :p

Both were about 1.6mb. I compressed them to 1 mb each.

EDIT: My sister took a bunch of pics in our backyard. These are totally mind-boggling. Besides the pretty flowers, the resolution of the pictures are so high you can see the pollen stalk thingies on some of them.

FNMFTW.

NICE! FNM was one of my favorite bands ever! I have the Who Cares Alot? on VHS. You know watching them with that first singer almost seems irrelavent doesn't it? He was terrible compared to Mike Patton, but then again, Mike Patton is a hard act to follow. Patton helped that band alot more than they ever gave him credit for, but what is cool, is that Patton was powerfull long after and beyond FNM! Even his stuff on The Real Thing was steller! :D
