Recruitable Rancor?

Hello, I'm a complete newb at KotOR modding, and since downloading a lot of your hard work I've decided I should give something back. I'm wondering if its possible to make a recruitable teterenatek (I probably spelt it wrong) or rancor monster, downsized of course to fit in smaller spaces. Since it seems that the bulk of recruitable characters are humanoid I think it would be nice to add a kick-ass new monster to thump people with.

 

I will read over the how-to-recruit npcs tutorial kindly made by Darth333 but I would like someone to tell me if there are any restrictions or such that I should be aware of that will forbid me to mod the game so. If there was already a thread about this and I didnt see it, you can all hit me now.

 

My plans for the npc would be:

 

1. All non-weapon related items can be attached onto it with no visual effect but with the bonuses.

 

2. No available upgradeable skills except for treat injury and awareness.

 

3. All non-skill related feats available except for proficiency in any form of combat.

 

4. Starting attributes are:

 

50 strength

20 dexterity

20 constitution

8 intelligence

8 wisdom

8 charisma

 

It might be a bit fuggled and I might need help from time to time since this is my first mod. Thanks for your attention

A recruitable Rancor? :confused: Do not for get the recruitable Bantha! :p

Non-weapons items won't be visible on a Rancor. Even weapons won't be visible. I am prettu sure that the model does not have the animations for this.

I haven't look at this but you can only use the existing classes so I doubt it will be possible. The number of skills gained in each class can be modified but if you change it then it is for the whole class. We cannot create new classes, only modifiy existing ones, this is hardcoded.

again, this is related to the class issue.

Yeah maybe I could just restrict him to droid skills?? The rancor being able to repair stuff and hack computers would be a bit odd, but oh well.

But how on earth would a rancor with a blaster/vibroblade/lightsaber work? Wouldn't it cause a critical error and blow up our computers?

 

I've thought of a possible solution. I could give him t3's feats, (in other words, make him a droid rancor) then add some droid upgrades to come with names like "specialized rancor plating" and "rancor computer hacking implant" :cool:. In character description I could just say he was captured by Korriban sith and forced to partake in hideous experiments that added armour protection and the ability to install blasters...? It's a long shot, but it might work.

couldn't you just like make it so you recruited a human and the little rancor was like his pet or something, but if you really wanted to make a recruitable rancor then instead of making it so it can hold lightsabers and blasters and that stuff you could just make it so he just had the normal powers (like punching and that type of stuff) that a rancor has and then you could still make his stats really high like streghth 50 and stufff like that and so you couldn't make him lots better with a sword or a blaster (you would probobly want to make him be on a further planet if your going to make him really strong)

need at least a 10 int to be an effective jedi. besides rancors are not neccesarily dumb just don't communicate galactic basic. and yes most rancors are dumber than an 8 with animal intelligence. but have you ever played jk ja with the cybernetically enhanced rancor that taunts you while it chases you? he ain't dumb thats for sure.

Yeah I was thinking of adding bracers that add a poison or fire effect on attacks.

 

Anyway people, this mod will not be started all that near, I still have to acquaint myself with various tools and of course maintain my imploding life, of which details I will not divulge. I'll give you updates when I start and as I make progress.

I have i simple mod where it changes Hk-47 to a rancor. I did take the he is a special rancor with robot abilties idea:c3po:.

i did use the stats listed in the begining of the thred.And i changed his name to

RX-01

 

Know Problems:

1.In Yaka Luka's Shop he still lookes like HK-47(this has been changed edit)

2.No wepon Animations

3.He is the small rancor for "fitting through doors" reasons(If you call this a Problem)

4. still sounds like the orginal HK-47(If you call this a Problem)

5. some minor dialog things where it says HK-47 Insted of RX-01(If you call this a Problem)

i was able to change the problem where he still looks like HK-47 in Yaka Luka's shop i was able to change this with a .utc file that i decompiled with the Kotor Tool.

Now all i need to change is the dialog references from HK-47 to RX-01. No problems are caused if you have a reskin of HK-47. If i can fully change all the Dialog i may place this mod on PCgamemods.com.

 

And i did change the stats to Rogue9dlb's

idea.
