Jedi Survival...

Is it possible for any Jedi other than Yoda and Obi-Wan to survive the rise of the Empire? Surely others could have fled to outlying systems and laid low as well, Anakin is not a high ranking Jedi, he wouldnt know where they all were, and i find it very doubtful they are all on Coruscant when the Empire takes control. I don't know if the EU covers this, if not i guess its pure speculation, but could there be other Jedi.

I know in ROTJ, Yoda says Luke will be the last of the Jedi, but there is no reason to assume Yoda knows this for a fact since he is clearly not as strong as Palpatine (In AOTC Palpatine and whatever other Sith are around are able to prevent Yoda clearly percieving things through the force) and Palpatine is unaware of Yoda's continued existence (as covered in the ROTJ novel), so there could be Jedi that both are not aware of.

It seems to be that in the movie universe only Yoda and Kenobi survived, although we may have a different view after Episode 3. In the parallel world of the Expanded Universe which contains the majority of the books, games, and so on, it appears that several Jedi avoided the purge.

Having other Jedi surviving is certainly feasible, although they will most likely be hiding their identity and thus not exposing themselves through the use of their powers or lightsaber.

prime be right. only in movie terms is obi-wan and yoda the last of the jedi and luke the apprentice. BUT if you wanna go EU on our asses, Joruus Cabaoth(sp) was a clone of Jorus Cabaoth who was on the outbound flight project and died. he wasnt quite there and helped thrawn try to capture leias twins for Dark Side Deciples. the only other jedi i can think of that was alive and in a body was Ikrit. he hibernated in teh Woolamander Palace on Yavin IV to protect the natives of yavin during the reign of a dark lord there(exar kun??i cant remember) and awoke when Tahiri and Anakin went pokin around the place in their time at the academy.

now as for jedi with no bodies. Calista transfered herself with the force into the system of the Eye of Palpatine, another of good ol' palpys superweapons and was released when Cay(sp) gave up her body to Calista after look fell in love with her when he was trapped on the eye, she soon left him to god only knows where.

thats all i can think of off hand...enlighten me if you have more everybody..

If there were other jedi they would have stopped usiong the force due to the fact that vader as obi wan said in a new hope would have tracked down and killed them thiss has lead me to beleive there were others but palpatine taught vader how to track them using the force and he hunted them down and killed them.Reasonfor obiwan and yoda not dying Obiwan was powerful enough to hide himself and stopped using the force till he fought vader and vader and palpatine needed yoda to train luke so vader would be able to try and turn him to the darkside

There is a jedi that survives the purge in the EU. Echuu Shen-Jon even meets with Leia and fights with her a short period, then is killed by Vader. But thats a little after episode 4, so he just survived some years after yhe purge. He bacomes one with the force and appears t Leia years after.

If we go by EU, we see that some jedi are able to severe their connection to the force (Like Kyle Katarn, and I believe some others, even.) That'd make them a lot harder to detect, I think. So maybe some Jedi did that and then hoped to be able to retrain when the dark times would pass. Wich they are. If they're there.
