Astrotoy7
LMAO..... unless you''re a graphic designer or high end programmer, the average suburban gamer has *NO* use for one of these contraptions. I find apple ppl are pretentious...look at Mike(txa) for example, make one little joke about a Mac *anywhere* on LF and he hunts you down and gives you a speech longer than the Bill of Rights... bah ! Macs - ghey hey, btw - I heard theyre planning to release KOTOR on Mac.....in about 2009 *hugs nasty a$$ ever-crashin pc* mtfbwya
KBell
Originally posted by Acrylic Well, macs are really expensive, but I'll get a mac when they come with a G5 version of the Mini mac. Or maybe I'll just cave in and buy the Minimac. I really want a mac, just for fun. they look cool too. I'd get a normal mouse, since I can't live without scroll. If by fun you mean using it as a big white paperweight, go for it Unless you're actually going to use the thing, in which case i would have to ask you what you would do with it that would be considered fun. ET Warrior
Wow. A mac. How freakin exciting. I mean, come on guys, it might load programs a full 0.05 seconds faster than windows. Holy crap! Think of the opportunities! The speed of processors now is rediculous anyways. Goodness, are our lives so important that everything must happen instantly? We can't wait less than half of a second anymore?

For me: 71 processes, 16 windows open with Photoshop, Image ready, my Security prog, Steam, Winamp, Windows media player, Adobe reader and other things. 17 things in the tray at 4% CPU usage w/no slow-down what so ever.... coolio You just got BURNED! Alegis
6. No real multi-tasking That's the main reason why I hate macs. I can't work on it fast enough... And all the software being made by apple is a disadvantage; instead of releasing patches for special software; NO! You'll need to buy the latest sub-operating system. jon_hill987
One of the best reasons not to get mac's is you cannot buy parts, if your mother board breaks you are stuck with buying a new computer, whereas with a PC you can be up and running on the same day afer a trip to PC world. Mac's are good though, as long as you are in the music industry or design a lot of graphics, but that is the only thing that they beat a PC on (besides not crashing) Well that was what the reveiw on the "gadget show" found out. edlib
Uh... I just wanted to throw in the fact that we have several Macs in my office at work... and that they all have 2-button scroll mice that work just the way they do in Windows. Just thought you should know. Oh,.. and I'm seriously considering getting one of those new, under $500 Mini-Macs for home.

It's like comparing a 3 series BMW to a 7 series. Your mouse argument is foolish, purchase a new mouse and be gone. In the end, Macs are designed for business and developement, not games. The_One
PCs and MACs are designed for completely different things. You can go round and round in circles all day about "who has the better hardware" and "who has the better software". But, frankly, it's each to his/her own. Personally, I prefer PCs - simply because they do what I require out of them. They have the customisable hardware factor, and if you treat them properly, they won't crash on you. I'm being serious when I say that with my limited experience using MACs, I have crashed them about 3 times. My PC rarely crashes - and when it does, it's some crappy software that causes it, not the operating system. If you want to play games, use a very wide range of software, and be compatible with pretty much everything, then get a PC. If you want to edit video, create CGI etc then a MAC is for you. Quit arguing over stupid things, and start enjoying your computer - whether it be a MAC or a PC

El Sitherino
Originally posted by edlib Oh,.. and I'm seriously considering getting one of those new, under $500 Mini-Macs for home. You should, mac mini's are great productive computers. Maybe they don't have all the flash and pizazz of these home-use PC's, but they're very reliable. Which is why mac's are great and used a lot in businesses, they're reliable crafted machines, before shipped out their hand tested, unlike those at HP, Dell, Sony, etc. Infact no name brand PC company hand tests their computers before shipping out. And TiE, why would you have 16 instances of photoshop going, with image ready? There's no point. Also, unlike you most people that actually have jobs in image design spend their time doing one project at a time, plus they're good at it. And winamp and windows media player going? Use one or the other. Also, your computer may be able to do those things, but you aren't supposed to do it just because it can. Have fun wearing out your processor and shortening it's lifespan.
