It recently occurred to me that each division of our government and militia should have a insignia to easily identify them.

 

After discussing it with my lieutenants, we have decided to adopt this flag.

 

As you can see, it is simply a recolour of our country's grand flag. This is to show our devotion to Emperor and Country!! It will be worn by my men at all times. My droid units will have the insignia painted on, as well. We will carry this flag and the Geek Imperium's flag into glorious battle and bring honour to the Imperium!

1. Sovreign Hermit Status (everybody leaves me the hell alone, nobody tells me what to do, I owe no taxes or service, I am immune to the inquisition, etc.)

 

2. A nice little place to call my own. ("40 acres and a mule")

 

3. The equipment used to build the land (upon pre-arranged completion)

 

4. Unending audience with the governing bodies, upon request and without delay.

9. Liability Indemnification in case I destroy the world trying.

If this proposal is acceptable, I will provide a list of things required to get started. (I will expect #6, #7, & #8 in advance... they help me concentrate.)

Obviously, I appreciate the outlandish creativity of this thread... you are some funny and intelligent people. But you don't fool me, you'd entertain the idea of a new country quite seriously if you could. (A roaming tiger is better than an opressive ruler.) Aaand on that note... what was the documentary on starting a new country? How do I get ahold of a copy to peruse?

Now that I study Programming (going for gamedesign, because that turns you into a god), I have a new enemy to add to the list. I hereby declare war on Sun, for producing Java. Java is too slow to make anything usefull with it (just imagine KOTOR running a lot slower). Furthermore it is quite difficult to install properly in Windows.

 

Also they made a Sun computer with UNIX, and from what I've read in the rules of the university, you're not allowed to turn the damn thing off. And yes I do have a life so I occasionally turn my PC off (in case you're wondering why anybody would turn their computer off). And from what I understand UNIX is not as usefull as Windows, more like DOS, with all the stupid typing, and all the errors you make because the university uses keybords that are different from yours (in case you're wondering I've hit the DELETE key multiple times, because it was where I have my Insert and End key).

My main problem with Java is that it's too damn slow. Also I'd much rather be programming in C++, as that is the one asked for. I don't know what you're exactly doing, but I'm purely after the gaming industry. Java appears to be most used for Internet stuff, and I agree that is would be suitable for it. Also my problems and why I don't like Java may (partly) be caused by the cheap university (they don't use jbuilder, with it at least it works a bit better, but my programs still don't run any faster). I think part of it may also be the reason why it's supposed to work on every system. (I don't think it translates into machine language and that it might need an interpreter). They also haven't given the instructions on how to make a user interface, wich would be something I'd start with. It also doesn't tell me when something is done succesfull (such as compiling), a simple line would be good enough.

 

I really prefer PASCAL over Java, at least for the basic things they bother me with (stupid databases, when can I start on the games, for example KOTOR 895 983 725 723 094 and a half?).

free IDE's are ok but they range from good to crappy

 

as for a user interface I've done that its easy plus I've linked it to a DB which saves that sort of stuff and O.o where are you going to college might i ask?

Twente Technical University, in Holland. but the gamedesign master is in Utrecht, so I am considering taking my minor there as well. The only things the TU uses are UtraEdit, the compiler, java run thing and javadoc, and Borland Together. I can only find mistakes (such as the ; forgotten) when I compile, wich is really irritating (since I forget them a lot) now since jbuilder shows them automatically, that is a huge improvement. And jbuildre also can take over from Together an javadoc, I believe. I'm just not sure if it can also compile.

 

The manual from the university is also quite crappy, it only works if you do it exactly their way (and on their PCs) and I want my files om my external HD, so I can carry them around, rather than sending them from their PCs to my own, I feel really stupid mailing myself my files. On the other hand I am using my hotmail to store other things as well (increasing the size to 250 MB was a big mistake by Micro$oft). Hell why not after all it's free. Quite funny though, as I have quite a few Darth Revans in my list (myself as well, but I am the only one in fully caps), so I have quite a long list of mail recieved from several Revans. I also use a different style, they use the /** commands for comment, I only use the // version. And I rarely use the @ tags, I just type

for example instead of '//@author me' I use '//author = me'. And I sometimes can't resist putting a SW quote in, instead of OK, I would use 'everything is proceeding as I have foreseen'

Okay, we all know about starmarks forum country.

And as you may know, the Grand Poobah of Mojo (me) had his official negotiations severed and was declared an enemy of the state.

 

As far as I know, none of those on his war list have officially challenged his Dictatorship.

 

So here's my proposal, I'm now founding a new country, where those of opposing oppinions can reside,

And since it is being founded by the GPM it will be a much awesommer place, where people aren't oppressed and stuff:D

 

And as fitting our fast and loose attitude, it's gonna be a whole lot more freeform and everyone gets their voice heard without getting kicked in the nads:D

 

So whatever, peace and love dudes, rock on:cool:

 

[A super mod said it couldn't be in a seperate thread, why, I don't know:D
