Mex Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Hey guys, I was just wondering has anyone seen this game? It was in a steam update 2 weeks ago. It looks awesome Basically, this is what it's about. Imagine having a Kung Fu Fight with string puppets, except you don’t have to worry about getting the strings tangled up, and you don’t have to have a kung fu fight. You control the characters on screen with the mouse – there are no pre-scripted animations in the game – it’s all up to you – to walk, you have to literally pick up one foot, then place it in front of the other. Sounds tricky maybe, but it doesn’t take long before you're spinning through the air like a Russian gymnast. This means you get to create your own style, and can act out whatever you feel like, and of course, if you really feel like it, you can have a fight. It’s about Chi power. If you want to view a video to see what it's like, click here, (100 megs) It's quite a big file, but it's worth it. Also, you can make your own skins, do minigames, multiplayer [8 player] single player with acted out cut-scenes, which poke fun at old Kung-fu movies. Also Pczone had a 2 page exclusive about it, have a read! Also, VALVe is distrubuting this game through steam, after that demonstration [the video i put a link to] a worker from VALVe asked him about it, the next day he was flown to the USA and gave Gabe Newall a private presentation, and Mark Healey the maker of this game who works at Lionhead, was made a deal. Basically it'll be done in a week or two, hes sending it off to VALVe tomorrow. It'd be awesome to see some of you guys on this game. Remember the official site, http://www.ragdollkungfu.com and check out some of the videos. I hope some of you buy it.
ET Warrior Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I hope some of you buy it. And how much are you paid for that endorsement? XP
Mex Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 And how much are you paid for that endorsement? XP Heh, just trying to help the game get off it's feet when it comes out! Oh, and just to let you know the game will only cost about £10-15 pound. Edit : My 4,500th post going to marketing. Figures.
The_One Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Downloading the video. It does look pretty cool, and is a pretty neat concept - not sure I want to spend 15 quid on it, though...
Alegis Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I hope some of you buy it. I remember reading at one of the first announcements about rag doll that it was a project for fun and would be free... Doesn't look that interesting at all for a purchase
ET Warrior Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 That...really doesn't look atall worth paying actual money for now that I've downloaded the video.
Mex Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 My god. Does no one here like original games? Innovation? A bit of fun?
ET Warrior Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Original games and innovation are sweet, but only if they look entertaining. That just looks dumb. "HAR! I click his leg and drag he moves!"
Mex Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Original games and innovation are sweet, but only if they look entertaining. That just looks dumb. "HAR! I click his leg and drag he moves!" It looks dumb? Then every other game released must be in a special ed class.
Mike Windu Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Getting rather defensive about a game not even released are we?
El Sitherino Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 He's the secret coder monkey behind the scenes making your guy do tricks!
Mex Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Getting rather defensive about a game not even released are we? Heh, been having trouble sleeping so, thats most probably why.
ET Warrior Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Indeed, I'm not sure what it is you see in this game that makes you think it looks so exciting. Honestly, it's not that I'm closed to new ideas for games, I love innovation, I love video games. this just looks...lame is probably the best word. It also looks like it might be entertaining for a total of 3 minutes or so... I will pass.
Mex Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Theres gonna be a demo too guys, so before you bash it, give it a try. It'll be out in a few days along with the game.
ET Warrior Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Oh I'll deffinately play the demo, I'm not against the game in general, it's just from what I've seen i'm against paying money for it.
PoM Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 So, uh, who has the game? [Force persuade]This was necessary.[/Force persuade] I have it, and it's great!
Sabretooth Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Dunno about Ragdoll Kun Fu, but it reminded me of this - http://www.acid-play.com/download/ragdoll-matrix-reloaded/

jon_hill987 Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Ok, I havn't watched the vid as I am on 56k but I get visions of the kung fu scenes from Team America. Keee-Yaaaaaahhhhhaaa!

So you are saying that a game developed by Mark Healey who doesn't even work at valve should come with the silver package even though it is in no way related to the silver package or Half Life 2? Wow. 14.99 is damn cheap for a game this good, i'd pay 40.
