starmark2k Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 I know this is kind of old news but Matt Groening and David X Cohen are going to make a Strait to Video/DVD Movie of futurama. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0471711/ Now I'm a Big Fan of the show and personally think it surpasses Matt Groening other works (The Simpsons). I also think it was one of the best things on TV before Fox cancelled it because it wasn't getting rating as good as the Simpsons. I am hoping this 'Movie' will be the first step in having Fox bring back the TV series. So what do all you lucasforum users think about it?

Futurama is much better than the Simpsons (IMO).... Thanks for the heads up about the DVD though, it may have been old news, but I am one of those peeps who didn't catch it the first time around... hehehe it's "new" news to me However, I hope they have the original cast member's voice talent. It's just one of those quirks I have where it won't feel 'right' unless it's a replication of what I'm used to seeing in the syndicated stuff.... so far so good as IMDB has the original cast.. but you never know how things work out during "contract negotiations"...

They stopped showing them on TV here by season 4 The movie sounds cool tho.. I think the show was underrated because it was 'too geeky' for people who dont know about sci-fi and gaming lore.... Whereas The Simpsons is a mixture of already successful shows like Roseanne, married w Children and Cheers, even an element of those 'annoying little kid' type shows like 'Dennis The Menace' etc.. I think 'do you like Futurama' is an acid test for 'are you a sci-fi/gaming nut' mtfbwya

If you watch Family Guy, then you probably have noticed Meg's voice change. Mila Kunis is the voice to me. I think it was Lacy Chabert in the first season, but Meg just sounds funny when it's not Mila.

Commas Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Futurama is one of my all time favorite shows, and this is incredible news for me! Its really sad that fox had to send it the way of The Critic. How is it that great shows like this and Family Guy get cancelled when The Simpsons, which is way past its prime now, continues to get renewed. Unfortunetly even with this Futurama movie being made, I doubt Fox will bring it back, as its DVD sales for the different seasons and ratings on Adult Swim are much less than Family Guy's and those were the two main factors in its return. I think Adult Swim is the only hope for new episodes of Futurama. As for my favorite quote, I'd have to go with just about anything Zapp Branigan ever said, for example Quote Zapp: I have a very sexy learning disorder. What do I call it Kif? Kif: [groaning]... sexlexia. I'm pretty stoked to see that both he and Kif are on IMDB's cast list.
