All the games that will be able to be played on day one. More will be made compatible as time goes on. Glad to see Metal Arms: Glitch in the System on it :D

JA will be on there, but no JO, meh...

Burnout series, MIA? Atleast they have Drake of 99 Dragons and Barbie Horse Adventures on there.

Sound cool, huh?

I just hope they will be adding more, cause only around a half of my games are looking to make the list.

Backwards compatibility for DOA 3??? Alright!

I think I'll just stick with my old XBox, though. Classic consoles never die hard!

OH yes YOUR Xbox, because you know I have the ps2 and gamecube because YOU own the Xbox, wich I might sell to buy the 360.

Mmm can't wait to play Stubbs on a 360

No Splinter Cell, Riddick, Full Spectrum Warrior, DOA ultimate???

I gotta say that I assumed when they said "most top games" they were just covering their butts because there might be the odd 1% of games that might not work quite right... as there is with any emulator. But they seem to have missed out a heck of a lot of big games from that list. though i guess they might add them later.

Note that you have to pay for any downloadable content again, but you do get to play them in HiDef, if you have it.

Seems to me they should have got the Emu writing scene to write their eulator for them, as their emulators seem to be more compatible... maybe we should wait for the PC homebrew xbox emulators.. ;)

(first two 360 game reviews at 1up - both get a 7 out of 10)

How? With monthly kits that you have to purchase?

I seriously doubt it would happen. They already have free downloads for games on the Xbox. Just a couple emulators that are already free won't cost money later on.

So why would they charge for what used to be free?

It sounds to me like they are using a HLE (high level emulator) approach as has been popular with the Emulating scene ever since UltraHLE (n64 emulator) was released. Old style emulators used to emulate all the functions of the hardware in software, but once it got to n64/ps1 levels it got too complcated to try and emulate all that hardware... so they broke it into higher level "blocks" and tried to emulate the functions of those.

This is quicker and easier, but does mean that any games that do slightly unusual things can break it as they might not have exactly the same results as the emulated "blocks".

This is usually fixed by having configuration files for each game that tweak the way te emulator operates in order to make it work. Seems to me they are doing something similar with their xbox emulator.

Still, i'd have thought with all their inside knowledge they could have made Splinter Cell work... ;)

Its also weird that you need to download the emulator (or download it to a cd on a pc if you don't have live). Thats fine for us techies, but its going to confuse even more those people who will just expect their old xbox games to work.

First they'll get the core system, then find their games don't work on that. Then they'll return it for a proper system, then find their games don't work. then get Live or a PC and download the emulator. then find half their games still don't work...

..sounds like a recipe for annoyed customers to me...
