BongoBob Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 My mom ordered 5mb cable broadband this morning. AOL will finally be no more in 2-4 days...I honestly can't put my thoughts into words. All I can think of is me giving aol the finger as I uninstall it. And I will finally have xbox live. And, I just don't believe it's happening. I just have one thing to say... F*** OFF AOL!!!
RoxStar Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Wasn't this supposed to happen like 1.5 years ago But congrats. I have 4 meg cable, I feel inferior.
lukeskywalker1 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 5MB cable... *cries* *looks at 56K modem... *cries more* Ah 5megs is a lot. I would freak out...
BongoBob Posted November 17, 2005 Author Posted November 17, 2005 Well my mom finally hit the breaking point with aol, and said eff it, go online and order the 5 meg, so I did, and now we wait
IG-64 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I'll believe it when I see it. But, 5 megs, wow, that is alot.
BongoBob Posted November 17, 2005 Author Posted November 17, 2005 Just wait man, in 3 days hopefully, all the people that I know of that ordered from them online said that it took 2 or 3 days, so hopefully that's how long it will take ours also
lukeskywalker1 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Yeah just think of the time you'll be saving online now...
Sabretooth Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Well, good for you, Bongo! i wish I could get high-speed internet... *sniff*
TiE23 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Get your firewall ready, I recommend Norton, McAffe is really annoying. Look for it at Costco, my mom got it when our McAffe stoped updating, and with the rebates it only cost us $5 Now, how do I find how fast my connection is? >.> Edit: http://reviews.cnet.com/7004-7254_7-0.html I got 4.1 megs ^__^

Cause the first bandwidthplace link i got 3.7, but that can fluctuate anywhere from 1.4 -4 depending on local traffic.
Boba Rhett Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Mandatory burn: I thought you were going to say, "I got pubes!" Now that that's out of the way, congrats! My speed here in the lab is 623.2 Kbps. The speed where I'm currently dwelling is 0.0 Kbps. NOTE: 4100kbps = 512KBps = 4.1 mbps = .51 MBps So a 5mb connection is 625KBps
TiE23 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Did you just edit it? Cause the first bandwidthplace link i got 3.7, but that can fluctuate anywhere from 1.4 -4 depending on local traffic. Yah... I gets a little faster on some of them.
Jeff Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Edit: http://reviews.cnet.com/7004-7254_7-0.html I got 4.1 megs ^__^ Thanks for the link. 3544.7 kbps is what I've got.
--ZeeMan-- Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 http://www.toast.net also offers a free speed test. http://www.dslreports.com has a free speed test and a free tweak test where it gives you several options of tweaking your speed to get the fastest possible. at my parents house we started with 3.7-4.1 and after tweaking got it up to 4.7-5.2. unfortunately at my apartment i'm stuck just under 2 because there's a lot more traffic around.
BongoBob Posted November 17, 2005 Author Posted November 17, 2005 I got 40k God I can't wait until I get rid of AOL

BongoBob Posted November 18, 2005 Author Posted November 18, 2005 Anybody that's used fedex before (or has had something fedexed to you before) know what Left Origen means? It says that at 5:11 my package "Left Origen" and the status now says In Transit. Any ideas?
edlib Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 It means that your item has left the warehouse and is on a truck, headed your direction. Test results: 4154.8 Kbps - You Not bad... I could probably test better if I waited until 2am when the rest of the neighborhood is asleep, but whatever. Still pretty fast. I ran it a couple of more times and got some wacky results. Some a tiny bit slower... some much, much faster. That one seems pretty realistic.
