The Doctor Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I know quite a few of you will have no idea who I am, as I don't frequent these boards, but try to bare (I don't know how to spell it in this context) with me. I did some digging in Wikipedia, and discovered that Licas Forums was not in the database. I have added an article, though most of my original content has been replaced with more acurrate and logical information by other members. I would greatly appreciate any input you could provide. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucasforums
Zappa_0 Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Cool and btw who are you? hehheh just kidding.
TiE23 Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Nice, too bad I don't have that old "Swampies List" anymore.
Tyrion Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 An editor has expressed a concern that the topic of this article may be unencyclopedic. Please review Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and try to resolve the objections on the discussion page.
Sabretooth Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Nice, too bad I don't have that old "Swampies List" anymore. *whacks Tie's head* You idiot! I told you that if the Nymph offers you a night for the list, tell her to meet me! Oh well. I've done some work on the article and much more needs to be done. Oh, and will someone look into the Interiot guy? [Corleone]Not good for business[/Corleone]
Alegis Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Lucasforums I removed the long list of staff names (see here), please don't re-add it. Most articles here on smaller newspapers only mention a couple of the most important people on their staff, and staff at an internet forum are most likely considered to be less notable. --Interiot 15:12, 11 December 2005 (UTC) What !? Not important ?
toms Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 I've added a few links. I'm not surprised they took the list of names out. They want wikipedia to be a serious encylopedic resource of useful information, not a list of forum names or people's names. I'd try and make things much more about the origins and links to the games and movies being discussed, not about the internal workings, how many points you need to change your title, or the obscure names of some of the boards that aren't going to mean much to anyone. Lucasarts, lucasfilm, monkey island, jedi knight, x-wing, EU, etc... all have entries, so link em up.
swphreak Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Yeah, can everyone say unencyclopedic? I hope the editor succeeds in getting that article deleted, because all I see is a bunch of links, and nothing encyclopedic. Perhaps if you actually wrote articles, and not just links? Maybe write about how LucasForums came to be? I think all the forums were merged many moons ago, and out of the ashes came the LFN. Weren't there some "forums wars?" Why not talk about how some admins are buddy buddy with LucasArts peeps? Content people, not just copying and pasting links. Untill it is fixed, I give the article a frowny face.
Sabretooth Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Yeah, well this article is just a few days old. Wikipedia articles take time to mature. So... any of you oldies know of Forum History?
TK-8252 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Wow. "Unencyclopedic." You learn a new word every day. >_>
TiE23 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (Thanks Ant )
Dath Maximus Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 i agree with phreak on this one...which is sad cause hes phreak
Astrotoy7 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Hello swampies, just popping into spam say hi. I had a good go at cleaning up the mess that the AHTO kids made mtfbwya
narfblat Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 If they are worried about keeping things encylopedic, then why is this allowed?
