Nedak Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Why are there so many Administrator for lucasforums?
The Doctor Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I think the admins for LFNetwork were the admons of the sites that were combined toi form form the network. Each forum site had to have three or four admins. Some of them rarely log on, I think, but they can't exactly be "fired" or demoted, since they are the administrators.
Lynk Former Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 It's a big place... bigger than it seems
TK-8252 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I agree, the Admins are meanies! Kidding. <3 And to answer your question. Um because they... want to have lots of Admins?
Guest DarthMaulUK Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 We have alot of forums around, so we need lots of Admins. Not everyone can/does login and there has to be someone around to help anyone when it is needed DMUK
Nedak Posted December 30, 2005 Author Posted December 30, 2005 Then who was the original maker of LF?
Joshi Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Not really sure, a lot of the forums were merged together years ago, LF may have been formed that way, in which case it'd be theadmins of the first few forums to merge in such a way. I'm not too knowledgable on that front, possibly one of the admins will be able to answer that for you.
Jan Gaarni Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 LFNetwork was formed by several independant fan websites ... as far back as in 1997 I believe. In last quarter of 2001 (roughly) their forums were fused and LucasForums saw the day of light. Many of these admins are not just admins for the forums, but takes care of the various websites dedicated to their related games from LucasArts. Kjølen Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Odd, I had thought that Aristotle was the big cheese admin around here. Must have been a misunderstanding.
Ray Jones Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 He's only user number 8. Soo.. Number 1. The conspiracy lives.
Nedak Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 So ChrisC3po is the starter of these forums?
Joshi Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 It say's webmaster under his occupation, so I guess you could say that, depends on the history though, the original starter could have just passed it down to him. Again, since these were merged from different forums, it'd be hard to say who the "starter" was, or if there even was one. EDIT I do wonder on their whole Member Numbering system though, him being Number one, it wouldn't be because he was the first member as according to his profile, he registered 3 days after myself and I'm member number 11111 (which I just found out, and is actually pretty cool). it must be because he's a top admin and I'm but a lowly Moderator. Or something like that.
Ray Jones Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 The registration date is just as editable as any other user info. Maybe the ID too, depends.
coupes. Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Actually, the id is pretty much the only info that cannot be changed, It is essential to the database.
Rogue Nine Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 When Lucasforums was created way back in 2001 or whenever it was, it had to absorb quite a few other forums. As a courtesy to the members of those boards, everything was transferred over in the merger, including post counts and registration dates. Chris set these forums up and went about creating new sections for all the old forums that were being absorbed. Most of these old forums ran on the old UBB message board system and porting them to vB can't've been that easy. So in order to "move" user accounts over, entirely new ones were created here and the old info was applied to them. This explains why even though Chris is listed as number one, he still has people who registered before him as a result of the account transfers.
Reclaimer Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 With all these admins around, I wonder why none have helped me with my post count problem I've had for over a year. I will be glad to PM an admin about it if they would help.
Joshi Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 This explains why even though Chris is listed as number one, he still has people who registered before him as a result of the account transfers. That explains it, I must have joined just before, or during the merger, due to certain circumstances I didn't start posting until around 6 months after I joined meaning I never noticed that the escapemi forums (of which I'd joined before they'd merged with the scummbar forums and BSBC forums) had joined LF, I'd just assumed they's always been a part of LF (at the time that is).

Reclaimer Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 It was 834, then matt-windu (I believe he was a former admin) deleted them on due me spaming (which I don't understand how I did, but oh well) and told me I would get them back after awhile. That was about a year ago. I can forward you the PMs if you want.
Joshi Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Matt_Windu's still an admin, under the new name of matt-- Have you tried PMing him?
Reclaimer Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Yes I have, but I have not gotten a response. I can only think that his Inbox is full of a bunch of messages. If it is, I don't get any messages telling me it's full.
