Tysyacha
I think I have changed my mind about rooting for Yevgeny Plushenko. Since Alexei Yagudin has gone pro, and therefore cannot compete in the Olympics anymore, does that mean Yevgeny is still his bitter rival? Alexei may still hate the guy, but Plushenko is no longer a competitive threat. So, I might root for E. P. By the way, did that segment in the Opening Ceremony with all the skaters dressed like trees remind anybody of those commercials for Ricola? Maybe it was just the horns the trumpeters used. Carthaholic
Alright! A gold medal for Canada already! Congrats to Jennifer Heil, quite an amazing performance. Yeah, the 2010 Olympics are gonna be great I can tell.
Commander Obi-Wan
Woo Hoo! A gold! Ya, I watched that Skiing event. Lol. I love watching Canadian hockey teams manhandled other countries. Right now, Canada's "women"handling (lol) the Italian team 5-0 and the shots are 24-3 in favour of Canada in the first period.
Carthaholic
Yeah, lol, it's a massacre. No surprise there really. 7-0 now.

Darth InSidious
I'm gonna boycott and hate the Olympics 'till 2015. Why? Because by that time London may *finally* have recovered from having thousands upon thousands of people pour into the city, clogging our already failing public transport system to watch a bunch of neanderthals with more muscles than brain cells chuck rocks and run themselves to death (hopefully.). I hated sports at school, and I hate them just as much now. I hope Tehran takes home every gold medal.

Commander Obi-Wan
New results. 12-0 vs Russia. Seriously, those games are getting awfully boring. Yeah, I know. I did even bother to watch the game. The only other women hockey ames I am going to watch are the Gold and possibly Bronze Medal games.
Tysyacha
Figure Skating Update: Michelle Kwan has dropped out of the Olympics. I'm sad for her, because this was her last chance to try and win the gold medal. Injuries just suck. As for the pairs--Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin are in the lead, as they should be. The beauty and artistry of their skating have not been beaten so far, even though Zhang and Zhang did have better "air time" on their throws and lifts. I feel sorry for Shen, of the pair Shen and Zhao of China. Shen is the girl in the pair, and SHE was the one who messed up. Not Zhao, her partner, who has been recovering from a torn Achilles tendon. Ouch! Sad. What was up with the U.S.'s Inouye and Baldwin NOT being in the top 3? They did a throw triple-axel and LANDED IT!!! No pair in the history of Olympic figure skating has ever done that. Inouye and Baldwin didn't wobble. They didn't fall. They deserve a spot on the podium, even if it's bronze. Sorry, Petrova and Tikhonov!!! Let's hope you two stay in the running if the American pair won't.
Carthaholic
New results. 12-0 vs Russia. Seriously, those games are getting awfully boring. Agreed. I watched the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period and that was quite enough. I hope they'll play against teams that will offer a better challenge soon. =/
Jae Onasi
Anyone see the Chinese figure skating pair that won the silver? Talk about guts for her to get up after that bad of a fall and then continue the program well enough to earn a silver. That's got to be one of the embodiments of the Olympic spirit. Tysyacha
I agree. Zhang and Zhang deserved the silver, even though Shen and Zhao only made a few minor mistakes during their performance and did not fall. I was so proud of that girl--fighting through what must have been excruciating pain to continue on with the routine! By the way, what was up with Shen and Zhao? Shen, the girl, was the one who kept wobbling and making mistakes, and not her partner, who had the repaired Achilles' tendon. I still kind of feel sorry for Shen, though, because her coach is probably ripping HER a new Achilles tendon right now in the Athletes' Village. As for the gold...Totmianina and Marinin, I salute you both! Maxim Marinin regained his self-confidence after dropping Tatiana, the girl, on one of his lifts, and THAT is no easy feat. When he dropped Tatiana Totmianina, she fell unconscious on the ice. Poor Maxim. I would feel SO remorseful! I'm glad they came back and won gold, and were leaders in the short program, too. Men's free skate tonight--go, go, Plushenko!
Commander Obi-Wan
Guess what! The Canadian women hockey team won 8-1 over Sweden. What that.....they've outscored there last three opponents, 36-1. Pretty sad.

Pretty sad. Yeah lol. Did you hear about all the insult emails the team got from CANADIANS (mostly) saying they shouldn't steamroll their opponents like that? All I have to say to these people is: read my lips, it's a friggin' C-O-M-P-E-T-I-T-I-O-N, geez! Wouldn't it be even more insulting to the opposing team if team Canada had laid off? That's like saying to them "You guys suck so much and we're so superior we're giving you chances". I know I'd hate it even more. Bah...
lukeiamyourdad
Well, it does make the games awfully uninteresting and certainly lowers the audience's attention towards the women's hockey competition. So it certainly isn't that unjustified, at least IMO. Besides, it can be also insulting to just crush your opponent. It can be pretty humiliating. Carthaholic
^^^ So what is the team suppose to do? Play half of their talent and then when they go up against a better challenge (ie the Americans) they're completely off their game 'cause they're use to lazying off? Not sure we would be very happy then. True that the sport may not be very entertaining right now, but just you wait a couple of years when all the europeans teams will have hired canadian coaches and will train here... Rogue Nine
I'm actually really into women's curling right now, of all things. The U.S. Women's Team isn't doing too well at the moment, but the skip and vice-skip are sisters and really freakin' cute. >.> What?
Commander Obi-Wan
Now the Canadian Men Hockey team won. The beat Italy 7-2 in the first game of the tournament. Was yet again a boring game do to the fact Canadian really didn't have much competition. Right now, I am ging to watch Men's mogul.
lukeiamyourdad
5-1 vs Germany today. Not a bad result and the game was pretty good. Gleiss, the german goalie did exceptionally well.

Yeah, Luongo (spelling?) was okay though he only faced 12 shots and let in a goal. Though, I never really got to watch much of the game because it was during school, but I got to watch the first period at lunch. Well the Canadians won a few medals today. No they're 5th in the medal standings with 8 (1 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze) medals, one behind the Americans. Woot Woot! Go Canada! EDIT: I forgot that Can. had 4 bronze & not 3. Thanks for telling us the score, we were watching the game but the vice-principle yelled at us:(. Good to know that Canada is hockey-tastic:). Jae Onasi
I'm bummed that no Americans medaled in Men's skating, though Yevgeny skated fabulously and definitely earned that gold. How about that snowboard cross? I'd never seen that before, so it was a lot of fun to watch. I thought the American woman skier Kildow had a lot of guts (craziness?) to get back on the hill after her crash 2 days earlier. Whew!
Commander Obi-Wan
I am rather the opposite of being bummed. The Canadians won a few more medals. They are now tied second with 11 medals (2 gold, 4 silver, 5 bronze), which is now higher than the Americans. Also the Canadian Women Hockey team are facing the Swedes in the Gold Medal Game.
