MC: AOTE: Rhea

"O.k." Nic said thinking for a second, Nic knew that the Imperial captain couldn't kow that they had the information he required. "We're going to go to the Rhea before our imperial friend can make it. I want to see whats so important about it."

Beryl raised her head off the pillow. "So, does that mean we can leave this place now, get 'divorced,' and go back to normal?" she asked Nic, with a hopeful grin.

"After fatguts couldn't legally sell it,the imperals didn't want to be fall in the wrong hands and would make sure that he wouldn't sell it on the black market so he launched it into random space. However he kept a cordinates of where it was ment to go. It'll take us a day to get there. I suggest we empty out the minibar over there and get our asses moving"

"O.k, You go down to the servents quarters and get Jana and Ryshana." Nic said as walked over to the desk and threw Jack the rented shuttle keys. "We'll meet the three of you in the hanger."

After Jack left, Beryl sat up in the bed, threw the covers off, and went to get dressed in ‘Lady White’ attire again.

 

Wearing a different dress, still elegant but more suited for day wear, she stuffed her normal clothes into her bag, then gave Nic a look. “Ok, ‘Mr. White,’ it’s check out time.” She shouldered the bag. “Let’s blow this joint. And, hope no one asks where we’re going in such a hurry. I’m sure it’s not usual practice in a place like this for people to check out in the middle of the night. Especially carrying their own bags,” she added. She frowned a bit, thinking. “You don't think Ryshana and Jana ran into any trouble, do you?”

"One of them is a Jedi and the other is an expert combatant." Nic said throwing off his shirt and replaceing it with somthing more respectable. "If they have, they can handle themselves."

"Oh. Right." Beryl said, as she waited impatiently by the door for Nic to get ready to leave for the hanger bay. "Suppose Ryshana can handle herself just like all those 'other Jedi' that aren't around anymore," she added with some cynicism. "And I suppose I forgot that Jana was immune from blaster fire, too."

 

She gave him a hard look. "We're in a Moff's establishment, Nic. Anything could happen. And don't forget that we're not exactly unknown to Lord Vader anymore." She shivered. "I'm just a bit concerned that we haven't heard anything from them, that's all. I'll feel better once we're back on the Echo. So, c'mon. Let's get out of here."

"Beryl you worry too much, Vader doen't know where we are and we changed the ships ident codes so he can't track us." Nic picked up his bag and opened the door for beryl. "and Jana may not be bullet proof but she's close enough."

 

The two left the room and began to walk towards the elevator. "Anyway I'm more worried about our Imperial friend and this Rhea."

“I admit I’m curious to know what’s so important about that ship as well,” said Beryl, as she pushed the button for the elevator. “I mean, it seems a bit odd for someone to still want a wreck after so many….” She paused. Something suddenly didn’t feel right to her. She looked at Nic, then looked at the door that led to the stairs.

 

“Erm…I know we’re on the 61st floor, but I think we should take the stairs. I’m…” She gave him a quick, but weak grin. “Worried,” she said slowly. Nic let out a frustrated sigh, just as the elevator doors opened. Without a word, he stepped inside. Beryl flicked her eyes hesitantly around the inside of the car. It looked perfectly ordinary. Nic beckoned with his finger to come forward.

 

“Okay, okay,” she said to Nic, stepping inside the car next to him. “I’ll stop worrying. I just feel… tense. All of this… I’m not used to it. Climbing up fire escapes in an evening dress….”

 

She pushed the button for the hanger bay, and the elevator began to descend.

 

“I just have this funny feeling that something bad is about to…” The elevator suddenly stopped with a jolt, in between floor 48 and 47. “…happen.”

 

Beryl pushed the ‘door open’ button. Nothing happened. She looked at Nic, then looked over his shoulder. There was a tiny red light flashing on what looked like a small security camera in the corner of the car. “Darling? I think someone doesn’t want us to check out so soon,” she whispered, nodding towards the camera.

Nic let out a frutrated groan and opened his bag. "We don't have time for games." He said as he quickly reached in then pulled out his blaster pistol. His hand quickly swung towards the camera and he fired the weapon at it, The camera sparked as it exploded. Then Nic looked up and shot his blaster at the ceiling panel. "Give us a leg up."

"Well, so much for a stealthy escape," Beryl said under her breath, as she linked her hands together to form a step for Nic's foot so she could boost him up through the opening. As soon as he was through, she handed him up the bags.

 

"Can you open up the door on the floor above?" she called up to him.

"Good," Jana said. "Keep moving."

 

They continued down the hallway back toward the slave quarters. They'd been instructed to wait there until someone came to get them. Just as they reached the doors, Jana stopped abruptly. Her face had gone pale.

 

"Something's not right here," she whispered.

Nic looked up at the door, it wasn't too high up and between the two of them Beryl and nic would beable to get to it and hit the emergancy release. But then nic thought for a second and noticed a ladder along the right wall, He saw it led to the main ventalation duct. Nic smiled and looked down the at beryl and reached down to grab her. "We don't need the door."

As they headed back down the hall, Ryshana suddenly didn't want to move forward when they reached the door to their quarters.

 

"Something's not right here," Jana whispered.

 

"I agree. Something is just beyond that door," Ryshana stated quietly as she sensed outwards in the Force. "Should we spring it or just head for the Echo??"

Beryl firmly gripped the hand Nic was offering. "What do you mean, 'we don't need the...?'" Beryl asked as Nic lifted her through the hole in the ceiling of the elevator car. Her eye quickly spotted the ladder as she scrambled up to her feet to stand up. "Oh, no.... The vents? You want us to crawl through the vents?" She stared at him deadpan for a moment, then with a resigned sigh, she shouldered her bag. "I am so going to kill you when we get back to the ship," she said, as she started up the ladder.

Jana frowned and stared at the door. "Nic's gonna send someone to get us when we're leaving," she said uncertainly. Finally, she sighed. "Let's hope we run into him on the way out. We're going."

"Fine by me," Ryshana stated. Briefly noticing that her hand was resting on the fake leg brace that concealed her lightsaber, Ryshana sighed a bit to herself.

 

"If you don't mind, I'll take point," Ryshana stated as she turned around and headed for the elevator. Ryshana was a bit more tense then usual, but she knew that everything would work out just fine. Besides, she still had that security keycard.

 

Arriving at the elevators, Ryshana noticed that a lockdown was in effect on the elevators. "They're trying to cut us off. That means they probably have guards posted on the staircases," Ryshana said. Studying the door, it was a single unit. That meant that it couldn't just be pried apart like most elevator doors. Noticing a security panel next to the doors, Ryshana swiped the security card.

 

But nothing happened. Swiping it again, a message popped up on the panel stating "Access Denied". "Well, so much for the card. Can you hack this thing?" Ryshana asked Jana.

"This is the lasy time i'm bringing you on a job." Nic said as he got on the ladder behind beryl. "You complain too much."

 

The two grifters got into the vent and crawled down it little before they stopped, nic took a datapad out of his pack and studied it. "O.K the airspeeder garage in two floors down and is on the other side of the building. Our best bet is too head there and hope Jana, Ry and jack don't run into anytrouble on their way."

Jana frowned and nodded. "I think so," she answered. "We'll see, won't we?"

 

She pulled the panel away from the wall and examined the wiring. Wincing slightly at the sight, she said, "Keep your senses sharp... this could take a bit."

"Yes ma'am," Ryshana replied. With one hand resting on her blaster, Ryshana began to concentrate on the immediate area. So far, most of the people around them weren't really interested in them. However, Ryshana paused as she noticed that a few of them were. Apparently, there was another entrance to that security office, and someone had roused the guards that they had put out. Well, that explains the lockdown measures, Ryshana thought.

 

More disturbingly, they stood a chance of recognizing that the security feed had been tampered with. It wouldn't take long for them to fix the cameras to show what was really being picked up, and that meant that they could be tracked.

 

Feeling outwards in another direction, she picked up several people heading their way. After quickly analyzing their emotions, Ryshana quickly deduced that they were looking for her and Jana. "Iu'lakia," Ryshana cursed in twi'leki as she suddenly realized that they were Imperial Stormtroopers.

 

"How close are you? We're going to have company in about 30 seconds," Ryshana whispered to Jana.

[Writer]

Jana grimaced. "That's about fifteen seconds too soon," she grumbled. "I can get it done, but..."

 

The elevator door slid open as Jana crossed three of the wires together and Jana held her breath for a moment. Other than the door opening, nothing seemed to be happening. Jana breathed a sigh of relief.

 

"Alright," she said. "Let's get out of this death trap."

 

The climbing began...

It was slow going for Beryl and Nic through the air ducts, but she vowed to keep her mouth shut, more so to keep any security personnel from hearing them traverse through the ventilation system than to keep Nic from making any more comments about her complaining. But, finally, Beryl could see the shuttle deck through a grate in the ducting just ahead of them. And their shuttle.

 

She motioned for Nic to sidle up closer to her to take a look for himself. She held up three fingers, then pointed to the three security guards she could see through the grate--one stationed at the main door, another at a side door, and finally, one roving through the hanger bay directly below them. She gave him an inquisitive look, hoping he had an idea of what to do next.

As they started to shimmy up the ladders, Ryshana was quick to close the elevator door with the Force. Not quite satisfied, she also crushed the door's motors, effectively jamming the door closed. Noticing that Jana was ahead of her, Ryshana quickly headed up the ladder after her.
