toms
Two new controller configurations: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3150658 includes a "light gun" type config... and shows that the classic controller isn't actually wired to the console.. it connects to the wiimote like the nunchuk analogue stick does. Jeff
The gun addition should be awesome. I wonder if those different configurations will be available at release.
MrWally
Wow... the wii is looking better and better every day. That tennis game looked simply amazing...
manoman81
Here's a question: if the Wii has 4 ports for GC controllers, how many controllers can it handle at once? Is it possible to use both GC and Wii controllers at the same time?
toms
Aparently all the demos at e3 were being run by gamecube cases.. but no-one is 100% on whether they were actual gamecubes.. or had a wii dev kit inside. Penny arcade thoughts on the wii, as i usually think these guys get it about right on games and hardware: http://www.penny-arcade.com/#1147850640 It seems to me that it will be very like the DS vs the PSP. The people who buy the PSP over the DS will be those wanting more cutting edge graphical power. And like the DS there will be a lot of new innovative games... and a lot of games that cram in the touchscreen/wiimote controls even though they don't actually add anything and sometime just make it worse. Seems to me that Twighlight princess doesn't actually benefit that much from the Wiimote (except for fishing) and maybe they should have just released it already! ;-)
Lynk Former
They are Wii devkits, the kits used at E3 weren't pure GameCubes, the hardware within is more powerful than a GCN but in the end it's not that much more. However at the same time Nintendo has never played up the power of Wii and has said it's only 2-3 times more powerful. As for the PSP vs DS comparison... At this moment the PSP and DS in the US are neck and neck with the GBA way out ahead. So by that comparison no one in the US wants the Wii difference or the expensive hightech that no one else has kinda stuff that the PS3 offers, they want the same thing they've always gotten, which is pretty much the Xbox360 lol. toms
Well, i've changed my earlier opinion that the 360 sucked to the opinion that its barely adequate - and its going to win this round. Is the GBA still outselling DS / PSP? I'd be surprised at that... i just think it has a huge installed userbase. But then again.. i just bought a gba micro myself and love it so i could be wrong. (still want a ds lite though!)
Lynk Former
It's amazing isn't it. You'd think that the PSP would be far ahead in the US by now but then you have to take into account that the PSP isn't just competing with the DS and GBA, it's competing with pretty much every media and multimedia device out there...
